Wow. This was a tough read in the beginning because it involved children. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, so I won't say what was so difficult about it. However, as the story progressed and the suspense built, I was drawn in more and more. The author has quite the knack for changing how I felt about the characters over the course of the book. Some who I liked and was sympathetic with in the beginning became despised while others I didn't like in the beginning I grew to sympathize with. Definitely recommend for anyone who likes medical mysteries!

I almost wish there had been a sequel so I could see how the story played out.

I only gave this one 3 stars because 1) I wanted to get it off my shelf and thought a good Halloween book would end the month nicely, and 2) if you can get beyond the pure 80's motif such as the schools not reporting or contacting parents when a child doesn't show up for school or smoking in the hospital lobby then you'll get through this book just fine. I had forgotten how well John Saul writes. May read a couple others....they need to come off my shelf too!

Solid 3 stars. The pacing of the novel itself was a little slow, but I did find myself flying through it. I enjoy John Saul's style of writing. I find his novels to be creepy and easy to read. Definitely a curl up on the couch over the weekend kind of read. The concept of the God Project was interesting. I can't say that I've come across this particular plot before. Possibly my favorite part of the novel was the ending. I did feel like it was a bit rushed and thrown in, however, I love a truly horrific ending.. Reminded me a bit of the very end of Pet Sematary.
