When one goes into a John Saul novel one knows what he/she is most likely going to get. A haunted story that involves children. This one follows that pattern. In this one, Amanda is a blind girl that is relentlessly teased and it leads to her death. Years later she is a ghost that haunts Michelle who recently moved to the area.

This book entertained me throughout but it wasn't his best offering. Essentially, this book is about how cruel kids can be and the isolation caused by this cruelty. The author did an excellent job with the main character and her descent into this isolation. I really empathized with the character. There was a sub plot with the father that did not work for me and this affected my rating. It just felt out of place. The ending was terrific and I was surprised the author went the route he went. It worked perfectly and I am glad he went this way.

This is a decent ghost possession story that is also a quick read. The message is really important and was the highlight of the book.

A young girl named Michelle comes to Paradise Point to start a new life with her parents, and she meets the ghost of a blind girl who fell to her death from the cliff just outside Michelle’s bedroom window. Thus begins a story of terror, because the spirit of this dead girl wants more than just to be heard. She wants vengeance on those who caused her to die, on those who tormented her for being blind, on everyone and everything in the small town where she used to live. And Michelle is the tool that she plans to use to accomplish that end.
tThis is one of Saul’s earlier works, but it is also one of his best. It is an easy book for an evening beside the fire, but it also carries great depth in its characters and the situations they find themselves in. It has a young girl who is trying to cope with her own emerging maturity and the birth of a new baby into the family, a father who is doubting himself and his abilities, and a mother who is obviously suffering from post-partem confusion and fatigue. Combine all these elements with a vengeful ghost, and you have a recipe for disaster. The kind of disaster than Saul has a talent for making an integral part of his storytelling. Also, this is a book that has a warning at the heart of it. For those who segregate and condemn people who are different from themselves, beware. The price for prejudice may be more than you are willing to pay.

"Comes the Blind Fury" by John Saul takes readers on a chilling journey through the small town of Paradise Point.

Saul's ability to build tension is commendable, and the atmosphere he creates is undeniably eerie. However, where the novel falls short is in its resolution. The climax, while gripping, feels somewhat rushed and leaves many questions unanswered. The sense of closure that readers crave after investing in the story is lacking, leaving a feeling of dissatisfaction in its wake.

If you decide to read this. I would recommend using an audio book. The story line I found is more chilling and real than from the actual book. The narrator Tanya Eby makes the characters seem so real. She has a very distinct voice, which I found she uses well when acting at the different characters. Especially the voice she uses as the ghost named Amanda. Very spooky.
