Patricia Cornwell is the master of suspense and she delivers another helping in Point of Origin. Kay Scarpetta, Chief Medical Examiner of Virginia is back and faced with an evil from her past. In collaboration with her niece Lucy, Detective Pete Marino, and Profiler Benton Wesley, Scarpetta takes on the case of a deadly fire that turns into a plot even more sinister. Well written as always, Patricia Cornwell has delivered another thrilling tale of murder, deceit and mystery. Another page turner in the Kay Scarpetta series!

Duh.

I listened to this on tape, and I had a horrible time staying interested in the story. I think that Patricia Cornwell really lost it about this point in her writing career. I finally gave up 1/3 of the way through the book, and I will not be reading any more of her books. I was getting sick of the characters and the plots!

Another good book I listened to while driving or working around my house. I'm so sad that Benton died so tragically. Kay is definitely cursed in love. Hopefully, Carrie Grethen has died forever!! What gruesome murders she and her accomplice did in this book.

Excellent Scarpetta story as Kay is pitted against a longterm nemesis in a cat and mouse game involving brutal arsons and high body counts. Races along and some devastating twists and turns. Excellent read.

I don't like writing reviews, but I will write this about this book, I shouted and cried...

This is the first Scarpetta novel where I have begun to lose interest. I did not find the characters nearly as compelling and, in fact, found them to be rather carboard-cutoutish. Plan on going on with the series but hoping it gets better.

Marino and Kay are working with the ATF on a serial arson/murder case, all while on the lookout for Carrie, who has managed to escape the psychiatric institution she was imprisoned in. This mystery is filled with forensic intrigue, though I don’t recall the true cause of the fires. I was actually going to dock it a star because of this, but I couldn’t put the book down, so it still keeps my five star rating. Here’s to hoping that this book finally takes care of the Carrie/Gault storyline. It’s been milked for enough books now.

I have just started this book and am enjoying it. It turns out my doctor went to school with Patricia Cornwell. I love how she is so exact with her writing and the science of it all. She does alot of research.
I finished this while I was at the beach. I couldn't stop once I got to the last 100 or so pages. I guess you could say that I am now a Patricia Conrwell fan. I am heading to the thrift shop to track down some more of these!!
