This series is so silly and over-the-top, but I still find myself giving this book 5 stars! There is non-stop, madcap, comedy and hilarity, and I just can’t put it down. Stephanie and her supporting characters are so outrageous. They make me laugh out loud with all of their antics. The story is crazy, but somehow makes sense and did I mention the supporting characters? Especially ranger and Lulu. This installment was even sexier than the previous book and I have to admit I like that about it. I like that I can fly through these books really quickly, and then get back to more serious books, but at the time, they are exactly what I need. This book, like the others, always leaves you with a cliffhanger that makes me want to get right to the next one. Such fun reads and I know I’m really late to this party but I’m glad I finally arrived!

The smash hit No. 1 bestselling author takes you on the ride of your life in the seventh Stephanie Plum adventure. Stephanie thinks she's going after an easy FTA: a senior citizen charged with smuggling contraband cigarettes. But when she and Lula show up at his house, they get more than they bargained for - a corpse in the woodshed and an old man on the lam. Stephanie's mind is on other matters, however, because she has two proposals to consider vice cop Joe Morelli is proposing marriage, and fellow bounty hunter Ranger is proposing a single perfect night...

This series just keeps getting better!! I'm telling you people, go out and start reading these books!!

I really enjoyed listening to this novel while I was running.

Stephanie has to go after Eddie DeChooch, which should be easy considering he is pretty old and depressed. Unfortunately that's not the case. Stephanie needs to go on a wild goose chase, which involves kidnapping, a dead body and a love triangle.

Seven Up was an entertaining read (or listen), which is all I need on my long runs. There was a few laugh out loud moments and a few surprises that I didn't see coming.

SERIE STEPHANIE PLUM n. 7

LETTURA DI GRUPPO E&l

I love the characters in this book from Stephanie to her love interest Ranger, and of course you can't forget Grandma, and Lula. I am still not a fan of Joe Morelli who seems to say sure lets get married so he can have sex when he wants and though he seems to come through for Stephanie in a pinch he has to say every time quit your job I don't like people shooting at you. Where Ranger laughs and helps her out and keeps her safe not that he doesn't want her body as well.
The story line for this book was really funny and the usual antics of the cast made me laugh and smile and feel good. A great read.

This is a humor/cozy mystery/chick-lit, and this is the 7th book in the Stephanie Plum series. I have listen to this whole series on audiobooks, and the narrator of the audiobooks does a great job on this book. All the books in this series will make you laugh so much, and I will say the way to read these books is by audiobooks. All the characters are so fun and developed. I love this series so much. Stephanie Plum always gets into big messes, and she will make you laugh so much. In this book the mystery part was so good, and I loved all the mess Stephanie Plum got herself into. (*)

**Content Warnings at Bottom of Review**

I am just moving right along in my self-imposed project of rereading through the Stephanie Plum series until I am caught up to the new releases. As Evanovich just released number 30, I still have a long way to go, but I at least want to get through number ten before the end of the year. This installment in the series is far more humorous than mysterious, which is slightly annoying due to the slapstick nature of a number of the scenes in this novel, but it is a Stephanie Plum novel. That being said, some of the words used and the way that things are phrased are VERY 2001.

Compared to the previous novels in the series, the number of dead bodies in this novel is minimal. In fact, one is dead before the novel starts and the other one passes away from natural causes. I mean, Stephanie doesn’t even have to drive the Buick in this novel, which leads it to be a pretty good FTA hunt for her. However, the slapstick elements every time she attempted to capture Eddie DeChooch did get a bit old by the end of the story. However, as Evanovich used this novel to expand the Plum family to include Valerie and her children and add more tension between Stephanie and Ranger, it makes sense that heavier topics were not dealt with this time. However, it is a tone shift to the first six in the series and I am not sure if we ever get back to the very serious issues that are dealt with in the first novel.

While Stephanie starts to flirt with the idea of getting lustfully compromised with Ranger, this novel shows that his interest is also there in more than a teasing manner. I am sure by book 30 I am going to be sick of the who will she pick of it all in these novels, but right now it is fun to see Stephanie know that she loves Morelli, but that they are not in a position to be in a committed relationship. Given all the unseriousness in this novel, I think everyone has had a relationship where it is right person wrong time, either romantic or platonic. However, one issue that I did have is the way that numerous times in this novel there is a disparaging attitude to “doggy style” sex. This is a book about a woman lusting over two men, one who has been shown good in bed and another who is likened to Batman, and yet she has a prudish attitude to a very basic sexual position. I know it is probably a very 2001 mindset, but it was a bit ridiculous.

Like I said, these reviews are going to be pretty short from here on out and I really don’t have much more to say other than the use of the r-slur to refer to someone with an intellectual disability was a jump scare for sure. Also, the view toward lesbianism was done more for a joke than a serious nature, which I can see being hurtful. Overall, it was written in 2001 so I am going to give it 3 stars novel but I can see other people not being able to look past these issues.

I don't know why I keep writing reviews for this series, I just keep repeating my self. This novel was not one of my favorites. Yes there were some spicy Stephanie/Ranger and Stephanie/Joe scenes, but I didn't care all that much about Eddie DeChooch. I actually didn't care all that much about the mystery part of this novel until it was revealed why everyone was looking for DeChooch. Then things started to pick up. This novel just seemed more focused on Stephanie's "am I or aren't I" going to get married dilemma than her going out and attempting to kick ass.

Now for the relationships, I was a bit hard on Stephanie in my last review saying she was being kind of slutty making out with both Joe and Ranger. Let's be honest, in that situation there is a chance I would do the same thing. Neither is a great candidate for a relationship, and she knows that, but at least we know something about Joe. Ranger is still the hot mysterious guy and it is just hard to get excited about Stephanie being with him, other than the steamy scenes. Ranger cares about her, that's obvious, but that isn't enough for me to think that her being with him would be good for anyone. Maybe if we ever learn more about him I will change my mind.

One thing I did like is that we finally got to met the perfect older sister Valerie, whose life has quickly become far from perfect. However, I felt like Valerie and the girls were only added to put more doubt into Stephanie's mind about getting married. That and add stress to her poor mother who I feel for more and more as this series progresses. Poor woman.

On to the next novel!

I am enjoying this series. It cracks me up how successful Stephanie is and yet she still manages to get into so many harrowing situations. Her and Lula make such a good team especially with the way they are so sarcastic and how Lula always wants to shoot someone. Joyce needs to fall into a hole and never be found. Hopefully she'll be out of commission for awhile with her broken leg. It cracks me up how Bob does his business on Joyce's lawn too. Things are finally heating up with Ranger and cooling down with Morelli due to him not wanting Stephanie to be a bounty hunter. Can't wait to see how the series develops

This is a right book at the right time thing for me, so yeah, I'm giving this sparkly little comedy mystery four stars because it took my mind off of things and it thoroughly entertained me. I'd almost like to give it five stars. I'd also like to buy Janet Evanovich flowers.

It's been a while since I read this silly, fun series about Stephanie Plum, a New Jersey bounty hunter with lots of pluck and questionable job skills. I had quit reading these books a while back because they were getting a little formulaic, but it was a pleasure to dive back into the fun house mirror version of Trenton where Stephanie lives. All of the elements we've come to love and expect are here: Stephanie's ride or die Lula (real talk: Is Lula getting compensated fairly for all of the help she gives Stephanie?), Stephanie's colorful, funeral loving grandmother, her long suffering parents, Bob the Dog, the 1953 Buick, a new car Stephanie will almost certainly total, Stephanie's arch-nemesis Joyce, and the eternal love/hormone triangle between Stephanie and her policeman boyfriend Joe Morelli (in this book, he's also her fiance-sort of) and Ranger, her enigmatic bounty hunter coworker.

In this seventh outing, as you can tell from the title, Stephanie takes the case of an elderly man who misses his court date, and what she thinks will be easy money turns into a book long chase involving the mob, kidnapping, and mud wrestling. Additionally, Stephanie's oft-mentioned perfect sister Valerie moves home from California with her daughters after her husband leaves her for the babysitter.

As usual, several passages made me laugh out loud (not that easy for a book):

Doughnut my foot. Bob was going to do a great big Chinese-food poop. And he was going to do it on Joyce's lawn. Maybe I could even get him to hurl.......I screeched to a stop in front of Joyce's house. I ran round to the passenger side, opened the door, and Bob flew out. He rocketed to Joyce's lawn, hunched over, and pooped what appeared to be twice his body weight. He paused for a second and horked up a mixture of cardboard box and shrimp chow mein.
"Good boy!" I whispered.
Bob gave himself a shake and bolted back to the car. I slammed the door after him, jumped in on my side, and we took off before the stench could catch up with us. Another job well done.

(You know it's been an eventful few weeks when getting your right knee replaced was one of the easier things you've done. One of my other problems was my beloved dog deciding this was a dope time to perform one of his favorite tricks: transforming into a walking shitpocalypse. Where's Joyce's yard when you need it?)

"It was all her fault. She started it," said Lula.
"I could have done better, but I was caught by surprise," I said.
"Yeah," Lula said, "I could tell that by the way you kept yelling help."

And he left, slamming the door behind him. I like to think I'm a pretty stable person, but this was too much. I cried until I was totally cried out and then ate three doughnuts and took a shower. I toweled off and still felt overwhelmed so I decided to bleach my hair blond.

Maybe people from New Jersey hate this series because it is a very bada boom how you dooin? version of the state capital. I'm originally from Kentucky, so maybe I'd be annoyed if someone wrote a series about a bounty hunter from Frankfort whose boyfriend was named Catfish McFarland and her meemaw played the banjo and ate grits with hogs feet.

(But hey, the banjo is one of the most difficult of the lute instruments. That's pretty impressive, really.)

Like a well-oiled Chuck Lorre sitcom, go in assuming everything will be exaggerated for your entertainment. I salute you, Janet and Stephanie, and I picked book 8 up from the library today.
