Seven Up Janet Evanovich, Oh hell this is so funny, chuckle a minute, imagine Sopranos as a sit com, well this is it. You got murder and mayhem guns, mutilated bodies, gangsters but weirdly I always seem to find myself with some warped manic grin. Has memorable characters Stephanie the sink or swim, tougher than she believes she is, full on self doubter but with a out going spunky attitude, She's the star character Bounty hunter with poise and some weird senses of graces, then her school friend buddy Mooner, the harmless jobless, relaxed far out stoner, real bummer man when Stephanie tried to help and dry him out (flushed all his weed down the toilet) what the heck, rings a cop slash try hard, wannabe fiance husband Morelli "get Mooner some weed he's a horrible dude straight" Then her Granny or should we say the horny mad sex goddess hobbies includes discussing alien kidnapping to death, shes a total blast. In fact nearly all the characters are distinctive nobody seems to take themselves to seriously, except for Ranger, Stephs piece on the side if Morelli makes her snippy or she wants a good shag. (Did I imagine that or fancied that..nah..No idea) Ranger the epitome of a man tall dark handsome big ball bearings etc etc..fellow colleague bounty hunter, squared away trooper. Then the story actually feels like a side issue a missing depressed gangster with confusion on a mob job with a mix up between words heart and fart there are chases and slippery get always one crazy scene after another. Black humoured soap opera at its funniest, definitely great fun. amen...yes sir.
This book has made it to my top favorite of the series. It had me laughing more out loud than the previous ones. I have the mental image of Stephanie and Lula riding on the hog and just imagining Grandma Mazur being on the back of the hog had me laughing.
Well I stayed up late to finish this book last night. I have been enjoying this series a lot. This book really held my interest and had me laughing out loud a lot!
Stephanie is at it again looking for another bond jumper. This time it is an old cook named Eddie DeChooch. You would think someone that is old wouldn't be that hard to catch but Lula and Stephanie bumble this apprehension too.
The love triangle is getting interesting in this book. Morelli and Plum are thinking marriage. Stephanie's mom is hounding her for a wedding date, which causes Stephanie to just blurt out a date. Then there is the heat between Ranger and Stephanie. If Stephanie asks for help from Ranger than Ranger wants a night with Stephanie. Ohhh the triangle just got interesting.
The ending of this book had me finding the next one and starting it.
This is another good one in the series. I like the fact that you can jump into this series at any time and it will make sense no matter what. Once again, the author did a really good job of creating a book with a lot of funny moments, snarky dialogue, and a little bit of action.
Totaled car? check. Viewing at Stiva's? check. Bad guys? check. Hot guys? check and check. Random guys breaking into Stephanie's apartment? check. Quips about NJ and all its beauty? check.
So, what's different? Stephanie is trying on wedding gowns and her previously perfect sister is trying on lesbian for a while. Moon Man and Dougie are missing, a mobster has a heart attack, and there are a pair of old Italian ladies that makes Grandma Morelli look like Mother Theresa. Things get ugly in Seven Up...including Stephanie's hair color.
I laughed so hard while reading Hot Six I couldn't wait to go for Seven Up. I think reading the two books back-to-back took away some of the hilarity. Usually I read a few heavier books in between, making the Janet Evanovich series feel like a cold beer on a hot day. I'm taking another break, and I'll be back with Hard Eight. Seven Up might not have been my favorite, but I'm still moving on to No. 8.
That cliffhanger! Ugh. Now I have to wait 4 weeks for the copy of book #8 to become available at my library. I think Grandma Mauzer is my favorite character.
What I like the most about Stephanie Plum series is the continuity of characters; Grandma Mazur, Lula, Morelli, Ranger and Stephanie, Stephanie's mother and father. But storywise, I get the feeling that all books are the same. This one was however a bit less entertaining than the previous ones.
