Can't...stop...reading...this...series! Yes, I know they're formulaic, but they're just so enjoyable and easy to read! Thank you Target for making this addiction possible by putting all these books on one shelf and making them cheap!

3 for the story, adding half a star for the laughs. If you're looking for a book to listen to at 3am when trying to find the sandman, this series is a good choice. It's a little violent for me, but the laughs make up for it. A nice escape read.

She took a drumstick and dropped it on the floor. She kicked it around a little, picked it up and put it on the edge of the plate. “There,” she said, “we'll give him this drumstick.”

The neverending will they won't they between Stephanie and morelli is food for my soul. Can we please normalize characters not getting together until four books into a 30 book series? Because I am living for this ambiguous sexual tension they have going on. Also like are they together? Better keep reading to find out

I love this series. The books are just fun. However, I could have happily lived without Sally Sweet and Joyce. They are probably two of the most annoying characters ever introduced in this series so far. Still, a good and fast read even with them populating this one.

Well, I think I've figured out some of my problems with these books.

It's seems that I've been listening to the abridged versions. Something I never do. Only the unabridged isn't available, until this book.

This book made more sense, I guess because I got the full story. Stephanie still annoys me, but not enough to totally give up on the series.

And honestly, because bless-fully we made some progress on the romance front. Not enough, but some. The whole interruptions and cat & mouse game was hindering my enjoyment. I'd longed for no romance, but now I'm on the fence.

The book says the same narrator did this one along with the previous three, but she sounded much different. So I'm unsure. Whatever, the narration was good.

It is this book that made me move onto the next.

My most feared (or was in most wanted?) theory came to be in this book. Grandma Mazur and Lula teamed up! If you have read any of the previous books, you know that is a recipe for mayhem and laughs. Although I must say, I expected a bit more from there scene together. We get a new character though, Sally- who is a hoot! I never fail to laugh reading these books and this one does not let me down there. Although my biggest disappointment with this one is it was too predictable in many ways, especially Stephanie being targeted.

Audiobook read by C J Critt
3.5***

This is book four in the popular Stephanie Plum series. Stephanie’s still pretty inept at her job, her romance with Morelli is heating up, she’s responsible for a couple of cars blowing up, Grandma Mazur is as nuts as ever, Steph gets a new “partner” in a cross-dressing leader of a rock band, and she tangles with rival bounty hunter Joyce Barnhardt.

The earlier books in the series are very entertaining, but I lost interest after about book 12. I re-read this one because it’s fast, enjoyable and fits a challenge.

C J Critt is barely passable reading the audio book. Her delivery is S L O W … with L O N G pauses at scene breaks. I also didn’t like the voices she used for most of the characters. This should be a fast, snappy delivery. I recommend reading the text instead of listening.

NOTE - I originally read this long before I had joined Shelfari or Goodreads, so never had recorded it ... the first date read is a wild guess based on having listed book 11 in the series as read in 2006.

I loved this book, it literally had me giggling, but it didn't have me feeling like the other ones did. I loved grandma like normal, and Sally and sugar, but the case itself wasn't all that entertaining.

In this Stephanie Plum volume Stephanie's looking for Maxine Nowicki, who apparently only stole her boyfriends car to get back at him but soon it becomes obvious that something much bigger is going on. Maxine's mother gets scalped and her friends finger is severed AND Stephanie's car gets blown up, but that's nothing that hasn't happened before. As always Stephanie's latest skip and Morelli's newest case get mixed up and the two end up working together...again! They even move in together (for the case of course) and things get pretty steamy which I always find a bit awkward because my mother recommended me these books!
I love Steph's new friend Sally the drag queen, she's very fun! Lula and Grandma Mazur never fail to make me laugh!
I like how the Plum novels are always the perfect mix between a comedy and mystery/crime novel and they've made me try a Boston cream doughnut and now I'm in love!

This one was really funny. I laughed out loud several times. I know this series is formulaic, and has an extremely slow burn romance, but I love the bumbling Stephanie and the sarcasm. If books can make me laugh out loud, it's a great book!
