Revolting Rhymes (Paperback) by Roald Dahl is a book I read to my kids and then to my grandkids. This book has given everyone giggles in our house from the very young to the very old. It is the kind of book that never grows old itself. It is a keeper. I still have it from many years ago. I can not count how many times this poor book has been read! It was worth every penny.

I loved this book, it is only 46 pages and took me only 20 minutes to read. It is an awful twist on many nursery rhymes like Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, and my favorite is Little Red Ridinghood where Little Red Ridinghood sees the wolf and instead of telling him about his ohh so big teeth, she shoots him!

While I didn't fall in love with these rhymes, I think reading them out loud to a 6 to 10 yr old would have them rolling with laughter.

I don't know how this will hold up for a kid cause it's too twisted. Most tales in it are gruesome unlike the original tales.This was quite different than I expected and i sure had fun reading it.

چقدر دنبال این کتاب بودم که براش ریویو بنویسم ولی اسم دقیقش یادم نبود، چون خیلی وقت پیش خوانده بودمش.
این کتاب جالب‌ه، چون ایده‌ی جدیدی داره؛ پایان دیگری برای داستان‌های معروف کودکی مثل سیندرلا و سفیدبرفی و..
خواندنش لذت‌بخش بود و من یک‌جا پاش نشستم و تمامش کردم.

Divertidísimo y muy ingenioso. Se lee en un segundito y te deja con un montón de sonrisas en el corazón. No apto para mentes cerradas jajajaja

Khi bạn nghĩ mình đã rành quá mấy cái Lọ Lem mới chả Bạch Tuyết đồ rồi nhưng vẫn phải hết hồn khi đọc n  Revolting Rhymesn vì sao nó thô mà cũng 'thật' quá thể.

Thế đấy, từ cô Lọ Lem biết tận dụng vốn tự có (dù sau này cô với Hoàng tử còn ra sao nữa thì cứ phải đọc mới biết) cho đến nàng Bạch Tuyết rõ là khôn đáo để khi biết xài Gương thần vào mục đích thực tế hơn hẳn chế Hoàng hậu, rồi cả 'cô bé' Quàng khăn đỏ badass chuộng đồ da hịn.
Mình thích cực những cuốn cho con nít nhưng không hề con nít như thế này. Với Roald Dahl, một nhà văn có thể sản xuất ra cả những tuyệt phẩm thiếu nhi (Charlie, Matilda, BFG, Fantastic Mr. Fox) lẫn những truyện ngắn mang hơi hướng horror như 'Lamb to the Slaughter' hay 'The Landlady', quả thật tập thơ kể lại chuyện cổ tích này không gây quá nhiều ngạc nhiên, nhưng vẫn thừa sức mang lại hứng thú.

I usually am pretty squeamish about violent takes on fairy tales or other traditional stories, but I must admit I found these tales, though definitely gruesome and violent (the prince chops off the heads of the ugly step-sisters in the Cinderella re-vision), outlandishly funny. I can think of several people I know who would definitely enjoy the revised endings, e.g., Cinderella going off and marrying someone who DOESN'T chop off people's heads, because she has higher standards.

Not nearly as revolting as I would have liked, but still nice rhyming takedowns of some popular fairy tales. The best bit is the femme fatale take on Little Red Riding Hood. Never mess with a girl who knows how to handle herself around wolves.

“Cuentos en verso para niños perversos” es el tercer libro de Roald Dahl que leo a mis hijos. El primero fue “Matilda” y el segundo “Brujas”. Este libro es corto pero muy divertido. Algunos de los cuentos que ya cocemos desde nuestra niñez son contados en verso por el autor de una forma que sólo Roald Dahl lo haría. Sólo puedo decirles que soltábamos carcajadas cuando lo estábamos leyendo. Nuestros favoritos fueron: “Cenicienta” y “Los tres cerditos”.

This book was alright. The twist's of the stories where kinda funny. It was short and average so I picked it up and kinda liked it.
