Good story line, good plot and a better read than others in his beach themed stories

I was really not impressed with this one. Most of the book dragged on, in my opinion, leading to the “big” reveal at the end. The remainder of the story after the reveal seems rushed and does not really provide a lot of detail to support why these crimes were committed. I love James Patterson’s Alex Cross series, but something about co-authoring with someone else takes away some of the appeal for me.

This is another slower paced book than some of Patterson's other stories but it still has his trademark intensity.

The characters worked brilliantly with each other through a well plotted slow burning thriller and each one was carefully crafted so that their storyline suited the persona crafted specifically to blend into the storyline only this author can pull together. The area the story is placed in is obviously well known to the author and is depicted thoroughly with an accuracy that is easily verified.

All in all, however slowly this story travelled the ending was completely unexpected and brilliantly brought together. It felt a little rushed but it was as totally unexpected as it was brilliant.

I definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good crime thriller.

I own a softback copy of this book

A quick, easy read with enough suspense to keep you turning the pages and what an ending!

CHEAP AND VAGUE SUBSTITUTE FOR JOHN GRISHAM! ⚠️IF YOU ARE GRISHAM'S FAN, STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE⚠️
Being a fan of Grisham for years now, I just couldn't resist reading this book.
If I could give 0 stars, I would!
I don't want to make a life-story out of this one, so I'll keep it short.
This book is a failure... probably the worst I have ever read!
Patterson (who is amazing author), should not have published this! It is way too rushed, lacking of details and no tension at all (thrillers should have at least some tension to make them believeable and fun to read)! The idea that authors had was to tell the story through few different perspectives (given from different characters), but it didn't work well... it seemed like authors forgot about those "perspectives" and just kept building up the story in a chronological order of events without making characters reflecting on these. The entire experience I had while reading "Beach Road" was blah blah blah...
Wouldn't reccommend this to anybody! Sorry...

Done reading BEACH ROAD. I am amazed by how the author writes a simple but well-written story. It is an easy read too. Dante Halleyville is an active athlete who is accused of murdering three men in East Hampton - the summer home to billionaires and A-List Celebrities. There is one man who can prove his innocence. He is a lawyer friend of his and his name is Tom Dunleavy. Will Tom saves the day? Well, I can't give an answer as there is one major problem I have with this book. There are seven POV written in first-person perspective all in present tenses. Even with a name at the top of every chapter, it is inevitable that there are times that I still get confused as who narrates the chapter.

The story is easy to read but the plot is not really believable. I enjoy the story until chapter 107 when the big reveal is made of who is the actual murderer. However, there was no information or back story of why Tom is a drug dealer.

The reason why he killed the three boys made no sense. Over $1000 of which they returned and he decides to make an example of them. To who? The millionaires and billionaires he has his nephew Sean sell drugs too. Why would a successful drug dealer want to bring police into an investigation?

Many of the characters are one dimensional. The doting Grandmother, the corrupt cop, the beautiful successful lawyer and Dante the perfect basketball player and human being.

I get it that he is a psychopath and subtle clues are there such as why would he dump Katie 10 years ago for no real reason. Also if he is hardly working as a lawyer then where does his money come from to live in the Hamptons.

This just didn’t do it for me. I am usually a Patterson fan but something about this story just didn’t keep my interest. I did skim through a good bit of the book and I read last few chapters. The ending is the best part of the book.

This book is phenomenal. It involves multiple murders. The murders take place on Beach Road in the Hamptons, all in all it involves a serial killer. A young black man who has great potential for going into the NBA as soon as he graduates from high school. Tom Dunlevy was a pro basketball player who was injured and is now a lawyer. They case is taken on by Tom and a NY lawyer he once loved, but who now doesn't even like him, but Tom talks Kate into helping him. Can Tom and Kate help this young man, everyone in town hates them for taking on the case. They will not get any help from the townspeople. This book was fantastic and the ending had me re-reading it twice. Highly recommend
