Wow

Talk about a change of pace. This is the best story estuary has done in years. I hope it becomes a new series.

Shades of "Chief", his first and best. I enjoyed this one---there were several possibilities and Woods played them all. His standalone books are better plotted than the Stone Barrington series.

Chuck Chandler is a middle-aged tennis pro who once choked at a critical time at Wimbledon. He is now the pro at a Key West club and lives on a boat. He takes up with a married lady and becomes the number one suspect when her husband dies mysteriously in a diving accident.

A fairly early stand alone Stuart Woods story. Excellent writing that will keep you hooked from beginning to end. This story will keep you guessing until the very end. The characters (both good and evil ones) were so well developed and you loved them or hated them. This book made for a great read.

Sex, lies, murder, the Black Widow strikes again. Many twist and turns leaves the reader breathless. Adversity brings out the best in us all. It either makes us, or breaks us. It shows us what our characters have formed as benefits.

Pro tennis bum Chuck Chandler redeems his life. Chuck Chandler is forever known for choking at triple match point to lose Wimbledon, and he is resigned to a life as a teaching tennis pro. His life gets exciting when Harry and Clare Carras enter it for lessons, and she is rocket hot. She soon robs Chuck of his bodily fluids and he becomes the unwitting shmuck in a disappearance scheme linked to mob partners he bamboozled in LA. Carras' plan includes faking Harry's death scuba diving and setting Chuck up as the patsy. The plan almost works but for the dogged efforts of Tommy Scully, recently hired former NYPD detective and Meg, the wholesome hottie who saves Chuck from the scourge of black widow trophy wives. He finally finds that most of his friends turned too on him for bucks.

Not one of the series of Woods books.
I liked this one:
Chuck Chandler has choked on more than one occasion--first as a pro tennis player at Wimbledon, then as a womanizing coach at posh tennis clubs around the country. Now at Key West's Old Island Racquet Club, Chuck gets involved with the wrong married woman

Woods has this really misogynistic outdated way of writing women that makes me cringe every time I come across these scenes. But it’s the quick banter and speedy plot developments that keep me coming back for more of his books.

Stuart Woods did NOT choke on this one!

Stuart Woods is one of my favorite authors. His books are highly entertaining and plain fun to read. This book is one of the best by him. I loved it!

This was the best Stuart Woods novel that I recall reading. The main character is Chuck,a tennis pro working in Key West, Florida. He gets to have a short affair with an exceedingly gorgeous woman, and later gets accused of the murder of her husband, after the three of them go diving on a wreck. Luckily, he has friends who help him out. He is not your average guy--lives on a restored boat and has a restored sports car.
