Not the most interesting book, but great for the social studies unit when also talking about Hitler.

Although the storyline was interesting, I happen to feel that this biography was written a bit dryly. I think the facts, amazing as they are, could've been presented in a much more compelling way.

Anyone who has read and loved Anne’s diary will fall for this book. It’s written beautifully as if looking on the outside of what her story is. Everything moved at a great pace and no details were skipped.

A very good book for young people to introduce them to Anne Frank. Hopefully leading them to her actual diary.

This book is about a young girl who lived in the times of World War II. Her name was Anne Frank and she loved to play tennis, swim, and she enjoyed being with her friends in school and couldn’t resist chattering during class. But, tragically, Anne was growing up in a time when all European Jews lived in grave danger. When Dutch Jews were forced to leave their homes, Anne and her family found a hiding place in an annex located in the back of a building that her father's business ran out from. With the help of some of their friends, they were able to remain in hiding for years. During these years in hiding, Anne kept a diary in which she described the two years of their secret life. After the war ended, the diary was found and then later published by her father, Otto Frank. Her innocent account of the horrors of war was widely read, and it touched readers all over the world. This biography tells about Anne’s family and their lives before the Second World War, the Nazi persecution of Jews, and Anne’s years in hiding.

This is a story that all students in elementary school should know about because it is a part of history from the views of a child who lived through the trauma. Students can connect with her because she was very much like they are, she liked to be with her friends and enjoyed the same things that they do today. I would use this book as a required reading for a 6th grade classroom in Language Arts class and then have activities centered around the book. It could be that they have to read a chapter a day and then be prepared to discuss the chapters the next day in an ask and answer way (interactive) and maybe have creative writing opportunities.

This biography is on Anne Frank and her famous diary, telling the story of her hiding from the Germans. This is told from 1942 to 1944 during the Holocaust. This is a biography based on it's retelling of Anne's life and experience. This book can be an addition to learning about the Holocaust and allow the students to go more in depth, reading about the personal life and events that Anne Frank went through.
