"An SEP,’ he said, ‘is something that we can’t see, or don’t see, or our brain doesn’t let us see, because we think that it’s somebody else’s problem. That’s what SEP means. Somebody Else’s Problem. The brain just edits it out, it’s like a blind spot. If you look at it directly you won’t see it unless you know precisely what it is. Your only hope is to catch it by surprise out of the corner of your eye."

Evrensel Dumura Uğratıcı ve Marvin'in efsanevi şarkısının hatırına 4 yıldız.

Şimdi dünya yatağa daldı,
Karanlık yutamadı kafamı, ardında kaldı,
Görmeme yardım etti kızılötesi ışınları,
Nasıl da nefret ederim geceden.

Ama şimdi uğraşmalıyım ben de uyumaya,
Elektronik koyunları saymayı denemeli,
Ve saklayıp kendime tatlı rüyalar dileğini,
Nasıl da nefret ederim geceden.

Arthur Dent finds himself in a prehistoric Earth and he has to save the universe from robots. I loved the first one, the second was highly entertaining but the third one was rather meh. This is the first one I have listened to on audio book so maybe that's why I didn't quite enjoy it or maybe the quirky sillyness just was enjoyable in small doses for me. I don't know but I think I'll wait until the library is open again before I read the next one

n  Life, the Universe and Everythingn was everywhere. All over life. All over the universe. And all over my span of consciousness. My poor little Earth brain was inadequate for this book! *Spontaneously laughs like a mad hatter and then abruptly stops.* I wasn't over the moon for this one. I've read some reviews about the previous two books in the series, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and The Restaurant at the End of the Universe and some readers said they were weird. I didn't find them weird but this one I did. It was a little too, too much. Too much what? Too much Douglas Adams brain-ish-ness. (Silly book. I can make up silly words.) I have no idea what the plot was. What was the point? I chuckled a few times. But most of the time I felt like, "Wait! What? So... yeah no.

2 stars. Douglas Adams sci-fi fiction is still brilliantly imaginative. But this one stayed in its technicolor space ship and flew directly over my head and right on light years away to the planet, Yeah Girl I Got You Confused located in Sector GH7W of the Brainfart Galaxy.
I will go ahead and try the next book.

Side bar: I hope this was just a fluke that I didn't care for this one book in the series. I usually never finish any series because they tend to fall off after a while but I'd like to finish this one.

This time the all the nonsense and absurdity felt repetitive and a little too much for me. Maybe I should've let some time pass after devouring book 1 and 2 a few days ago.

ZOWEE!!

Grab a Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster, a towel and a couple of Babel Fish and let’s spend some time with Douglas Adams’ fantastic would building!

It’s more fun than Vogon poetry contest.

Since Adams first lifted his thumb for a ride in 1979’s The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, fans have been keeping up with Zaphod, Trillian, Ford and Arthur and we cannot forget Marvin.

This time around we find Ford and Arthur getting some exile time in prehistoric Earth until Slartibartifast shows up for the rescue.

We run into some killer robots from the planet Krikkit and it’s up to our heroes to save the day.

Adams’ humor and imagination continue to impress. I especially liked the SEP field (somebody else’s problem).

Good fun, for fans.

This was rather disappointing...

To fans of the series, I should mention that the book is still extremely quotable, there is still a lot of irony at the expense of the political/social system. But all in all, I found everything rather confusing.

Basically the story could be resumed like this:
Arthur Dent gets insulted
Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect travel through time, and are asked to save the universe.
Arthur wants to understand who/what/why is threatening it, while Ford just wants to go to a party. Also, really complex Maths is done in a Bistro.

My favorite parts:
1.
My doctor says that I have a malformed public-duty gland and a natural deficiency in moral fibre and that I am therefore excused from saving universes.

2.The alien, who had immortality thrust upon him, and decided to pass the time by insulting every living being in the universe. I actually found it quite clever, how the story had both started and ended, with him coming to insult Arthur.
