An elephant is going to sneeze and all the other animals are afraid. Every time he sneezes he blows things like all their feathers off of them. Can they get the elephant to stop sneezing? Very long so preschool plus. Also contains rhyme.

This is a really fun book, all about the lead up to an elephant's sneeze. The illustrations are really cute, and the book is enjoyable to read aloud. My only complaint is that the rhythm on the rhymes is occasionally a bit off.

Fantastic book! My daughter loved it so much we read it almost every night while we had it checked out from the library.

One of the joys of working in adult services in the library is occasionally covering the children's desk and discovering old favorites. I doubt I had seen this book since I was a child (published when I was two), but I ventured across it while gathering reserves for customers this morning. I vividly remembered the great title, designed to pique a child's interest, and, for some reason, all of the hair falling off of the bear! The rhymes are fun and intricate and I imagine that's what made it memorable for me in the first place. I don't recall whether I read it at school, at home, or in the library as a child, but it clearly made an impression and must continue to all these years later since it is still in print. Funny and colorful, with pictures from illustrator Wallace Tripp.

The story might be funnier to older children, but my class liked seeing the different animals, and making up what kind of voices we should read them as. Little bit long for younger twos, but the older twos seemed interested.

I don't know when I first read this children's book. I think I ordered it from the "I Can Read" book club back when my two children were quite young. That would be in the mid-70s. All I know is that I still have that copy. My children and I both loved it and they asked me to read it to them dozens of times. The story is charming, the rhymes hilarious, and the illustrations wonderfully done.

I remember this book from when I was a little girl. No one wants the elephant to sneeze, the last time he sneezed the stripes came off from the zebras, the feathers fell off of the birds, the crocodiles snouts turned inside out.

I adore this book! I would read it in a fast terrified sort of voice and let the kids fill in the refrain, 'Please don't sneeze"! It is a silly fun book and the author clearly enjoyed this book as did the artist!

I read it to Jude 5/4/23 and by the end, he knew when and how to say the refrain of don't sneeze!

This book was my absolute favorite when I was little as well as my mother's when she was growing up. A few years ago I went out of my way to find a copy of this book to give to my mother for Christmas because our copy had gotten lost somewhere along the way. I fully intend to have a copy on hand when my own children are old enough for bedtime stories.
