It's a very well-written kids fantasy book. It is set in a great world and the atmosphere is there. Not my favorite, but still a very enjoyable book.

An interesting premise to build on the Dragonology book, but the plot was rather thin and the character development was slim at best. It's a plot-driven book with a bit too much explanation for my preferences. Still, for those who love the original, this is a good spin-off.

I really enjoyed this book. It's charming and fantastical. A great children's novel. I will be reading the next one.

Very much a kid’s’ book... whoops.
2.5 stars. Well written, for children, but a bit painful and obvious at times.

Good

I did enjoy this book but it didn’t give me the feeling of not being able to put it down, nor do I feel impelled to read the next one. That said, I am a 69 year old adult and a child would probably feel very different.

This book was actually pretty interesting. I would; however, highly recommend to read Steer's Dragonology books (Dragonology: The Complete Book of Dragons, The Dragonology Handbook, etc.) before digging into the Dragonology Chronicles. This way, you can get a real feel of what it is like when reading the book. If you're wishing to become a true Dragonologist, this is a book for you to feel the unknown adventures out there!

I really like this book, especially because it's about dragons and dragonologists. In this book Danial and Beatrice were going to spend the summer with their parents but last minute plans change that. Instead they go live with Dr. Drake who teaches them about dragons and how to become dragonologists. They soon find they have to protect the dragons and the dragon's eye from Ignatius Cook, who is determined to become the dragon master and control the dragons.

Dragon’s Eye is an immersive ride that made me feel like I was soaring on a dragon’s back and bonding with it as if it were my own. Watching dragons choose their humans was pure magic, and the chaotic, heartwarming journey of learning to train them was both thrilling and hilarious. The vibrant illustrations and perfectly paired music brought the world to life, making every page an adventure for the senses. This book isn’t just a story—it’s an experience, and I can’t wait to dive into the next chapter of this incredible journey.

IT’S STILL YEAR OF THE DRAGON YEAAAAAAAAAAAH

Did you know that there is a series of Dragonology novels? No? Well, now you do!

This one feels pretty much exactly what you’d expect from the idea of a Dragonology novel. Daniel and Beatrice, a brother and sister are sent to go learn from Dr. Ernest Drake, as their parents are dragonologists who are out of the country. They get to learn about dragons! Hurrah! Except there’s one dragonologist who wants to find artifacts, specifically the Dragon’s Eye, to gain power over dragons! Oh no!

Alright, it’s a fairly basic Plot, and it goes in a pretty basic way. It’s fun, though, especially because of how tied up it is with the original “Dragonology” (and some of the other books in that universe). If you’ve read “Dragonology” back to front a few times like I have, and some of the other materials, there are so many things to catch in the text. The artifacts, and the dragons that do appear, but plenty of throwaway lines are allusions to things in the other books, and if you know them, you’ll get some little bonuses here and there.

This book isn’t brilliant, in terms of Plot and characters, but it’s still good, and for “Dragonology” fans it’s great fun.

I mean I didn't hate this book. I didn't really care for it either. It was like Un Lun Dun; it was just kind of boring and lacking something. Like the sense of adventure and vivid descriptions usually accompanying fantasy. However I realize that this is a children's book so I give it kind of a pass on this. Unlike Un Lun Dun I wasn't expecting something unique and amazing. So I give it a two because I did end up putting it down a bit more than halfway through.

Alas, I did not find this book when I was a child. I would've loved it. Dragons, combined with extensive note-taking and procedural descriptions and such, would absolutely have been my jam. And I think for young people who liked the Dragonology book, this would be very welcome as the same thing in novel form. As an adult though, it's fine but nothing special.
