A long time favorite book, the narration really brought it to life!

Назва книжки ідеальна, щоб читати на початку літа, але так вийшло, що я нею літо зачиняю :)

Сюжет динамічний, читалося захоплено.

Герої наче з 70тих, але з тексту дуже відчувається вайб Америки 50тих років.

Цікаво, що б автор, котрий уявляв 2000ий рік з регенерацією зубів, вирішенням проблеми смоґу, роботами, які виконують всю марудну домашню роботу, тарілками, які не дають їжі охолонути, й одягом, що не мокне від дощу, сказав про наш 2024ий з брейнротом від тіктоку й ші, котрий наступає на творчі професії

გულწრფელად ვფიქრობ, რომ Predestination-ზე უკეთესი რამ დროში მოგზაურობის თემაზე არც ჰაინლაინს და არც რომელიმე სხვა ავტორს არ დაუწერია, იმდენად პარადოქსული და შოკისმომგვრელი რამ იყო ^^ ამიტომ "კარი ზაფხულში", სადაც აგრეთვე დროში მოგზაურობის თემატიკაა, იმდენად აღარ მომეწონა. თუმცა, თავისთავად საინტერესო წიგნია, სწრაფად იკითხება, გემრიელი სასუსნავივით, ან აზარტში შემყვანი სერიალივით.

სერიალზე გამახსენდა. ბოროტ და "გათახსირებულ" ყოფილ შეყვარებულსა და ყოფილ მეგობარზე სამართლიანი შურისძიების, ნიშნისმოგებით ჩაქირქილებისა და იქედნური ღიმილის სურვილი, იყო ის, რაც წიგნის გადაუდებლად წაკითხვის აუცლებლობას ქმნიდა, მაგრამ ამავდროულად ეს იმდენად გაცვეთილი ფოკუსია, იმდენად აშკარა ხრიკია მკითხველის/მაყურებლის ყურებით ნაზად დასაჭერად, რომ საბოლოო ჯამში ნეაჰ, ვერ მოვიხიბლე :))

"იმ გრძელთმიანი არარაობების" (ჰიპებზეა ლაპარაკი) ცოდვით დავიწვი. არ ეკადრება გენიალურ ჰაინლაინს მსგავსი ისტორიული შეცდომების დაშვება. მაგრამ მე ვინ ვარ, რომ განვიკითხო? :დ დრო იშვიათია ნარკოტიკია, დროის ხაფანგში გაბმული რეალობა ვიწრო და ფერად ინდივიდუალურ კალეიდოსკოპში აღიქმება ხოლმე.

დადებითი მხარეები: დროის მანქანა, რომელსაც შეუძლია ერთდროულად წარსულში და მომავალში ამოგზაუროს ადამიანი, ამ წიგნში პირველად "ვნახე". ჰიპოთერმიის მეშვეობით დროში ნახტომის გაკეთებაც თავისთავად საინტერესო თემაა. "იდიოტოკრატია" გამახსენდა, ფილმი, სადაც მომავლის ადამიანების ინტელექტი ტექნოლოგიური განვითარების კვალდაკვალ არა პროგრესს, არამედ რეგრესს განიცდის. "იდიოტოკრატია" დისტოპიაა, ჰაინლაინთან კი, მიუხედავად მთელი რიგი პრობლემებისა, ტექნოლოგიური წინსვლა მხოლოდ სარგებლის მომტანი ფაქტორია ადამიანებისათვის.

რას გაიგებ :)) მე მხოლოდ ის ვიცი, რომ მჯერა კოსმოსის. სხვა გალაქტიკების და სხვა სამყაროებისაც მჯერა. მათზე როგორ ვიფიქრებდით და როგორ ვიოცნებებდით, რომ არა ჰაბლი, გრანდიოზული GMT და ა.შ. თუმცა, ტექნოლოგიური სამყაროს მსგავსი ცალსახა კუთხით წარმოჩემა მეხამუშა ჰაინლაინისგან. ინი და იანი, მედალს ყოველთვის მეორე მხარე აქვს. მისგან ამას უფრო მოველოდი.

მაგრამ. მიუხედავად ყველაფრისა, მაინც ნამეტნავად საინტერესო რამეა. ჰაიტ, ჯერ მარტო ფისუნია პიტის გმირობები რად ღირს! :))

Наївна наукова фантастика з подорожами в часі яка хоче відродити бажання людини вірити у справедливість. Це однозначно приємне читання, яке вас не втомить ні забитим текстом ні надміром емоційності. Можливо, 2001-й рік в уяві автора надто ідеалізований і куди кращий за теперішній 2024-й, але, це був час, коли фантасти вдавались в крайнощі, в цьому випадку, Гайлайн, вирішив свторити історію про якісне майбутнє, а не втопити людство в крові та радіоактивному попелі.

Можна скільки завгодно сварити автора за наївність та типові кліше для жанру, але це та книга, яка подарує приємні емоції. Погодьтесь, серед нф, таких текстів і не так багато.

Mi primer contacto con Heinlein fue con Tropas del espacio (libro que no me gustó y que dejé como al 20%), así que dudé en darle una segunda oportunidad. Sin embargo lo hice y me he llevado una grata sorpresa.

La principal virtud de Puerta al verano es que ha envejecido muy bien. Pese a haber sido escrito hace más de 60 años, no se siente como un libro anticuado y lleno de artilugios ridículos que son supuestamente futuristas (cosa que si ocurre a veces con Asimov).

La historia es muy entretenida y la cantidad de guiños y referencias que Heinlein pone son muy buenos. Lo único malo es que el final es muy simple ya que todo se resuelve muy tranquila y banalmente.

Pero en general es un muy buen clásico de ciencia ficción.

No llegó a la media de sus novelas. Pues eso.

Once again Gollancz edition spoils big twist that happens in latter half of the book in the description on the back. I could've guessed based on weird stuff that was happening earlier but it's nevertheless upsetting.

4.5*, very enjoyable read albeit sometimes silly read. I love that Heinlein made his cat into a whole character like that. Love the story behind the title as well.

The more I know about Heinlein the more I like him but let's just say the romance subplot did not age well at all. Introduction by Baxter explains the deal (she was meant to be character of his wife) but it was creepy. Should've made her older in the 70's.

Després de molt estira i arronsa, després de començar multitud de lectures i deixar-los tots a mitges, per fi he acabat un llibre; i en un temps raonable. Ha estat un estiu atípic dintre d'un any nefast i suposo que això ha afectat les meves ganes de llegir. L'edició d'"Els vents del temps", però, m'ha fet gaudir dels viatges en el temps i vaig decidir posar-me fil a l'agulla amb "Puerta al verano", el meu primer Heinlein. Ha sigut tot un encert.

Heinlein té una prosa senzilla i un humor refinat que fa que t'empassis la novel·la com qui menja un gelat. Aquest llibre en concret, però, no sap mantenir el bon ritme inicial, aquell en el qual coneixem el protagonista i el seu gat Pet (sens dubte el personatge més interessant!). La part central de la trama fins a arribar al salt temporal se m'ha fet feixuga; i el despertar també ha anat acompanyat d'una mena de ressaca lectora que m'impedia avançar amb celeritat. Per sort el tram final torna a ser fluid (tindrà Petronius res a veure-hi) i el desenllaç va com un coet i deixa el llibre ben lligat.

Potser m'he fet massa il·lusions amb l'estil fatxenda del principi. Potser esperava que tota la novel·la fos així. Però és el meu primer Heinlein i l'he gaudit, així que li donarem altres oportunitats. Cal dir també que venia de llegir (i rellegir) la meravellosa traducció que la Maria Rosich ha fet d'"Els vents del temps" de Robert Silverberg i és clar, el bo d'en Robert havia posat el llistó molt alt.

Com a conclusió: si us agraden les novel·les de viatges en el temps i busqueu una mica d'intriga "Puerta al verano" és una bona opció.

This is a SF novel published in 1957, the title depicts the following episode:

While still a kitten, all fluff and buzzes, Pete had worked out a simple philosophy. I was in charge of quarters, rations, and weather; he was in charge of everything else. But he held me especially responsible for weather. Connecticut winters are good only for Christmas cards; regularly that winter Pete would check his own door, refuse to go out it because of that unpleasant white stuff beyond it (he was no fool), then badger me to open a people door.
He had a fixed conviction that at least one of them must lead into summer weather. Each time this meant that I had to go around with him to each of eleven doors, held it open while he satisfied himself that it was winter out that way, too, then go on to the next door, while his criticisms of my mismanagement grew more bitter with each disappointment

This great short novel is a classic Heinlein, meddling with melodrama. He is no Shakespeare but the book starts and goes for a first third quite like film noir – behind the screen voice of the protagonist, on a drinking binge; female fatale, beautiful but cunning. Yes, the female characters are far from modern representation and show how what is okay to write changed.

The story goes in two time streams, first is 1970, the US recently won the WW3, the USSR is no more, new capital (after nuclear strikes) is in Denver. the second is 2000. It is strange to see the two futures, both in my past :)

The protagonist is an engineer, making helpful gadgets to finally free housewives from chores (for me this makes him more progressive than those, who picks some of his phrases as ‘reactionary’). Unlike many other authors he really thought the gadgets out - great to see AutoCAD and Rumba and even Siri/Alexa with (often naïve) ideas on how they will operate.

Heinlein’s attitude and mostly positive and responsible people the protagonist meets - like a gust of fresh wind compared to modern writers, were everyone plans to backstab another. The hero doesn’t take charity even when entitled to, quite an attitude. Also a bit on the public money used to keep the production sounds like the similar story on agriculture in Catch-22

The job I found was crushing new ground limousines so that they could be shipped back to Pittsburgh as scrap. Cadillacs, Chryslers, Eisenhowers, Lincolns-all sorts of great, big, new powerful turbobuggies without a kilometer on their clocks. Drive `em between the jaws, then crunch! smash! Crash!-scrap iron for blast furnaces.
It hurt me at first, since I was riding the Ways to work and didn't own so much as a gravJumper. I expressed my opinion of it and almost lost my job... until the shift boss remembered that I was a Sleeper and really didn't understand.
"It's a simple matter of economics, son. These are surplus cars the government has accepted as security against price-support loans. They're two years old now and they can never be sold, so the government junks them and sells them back to the steel industry. You can't run a blast furnace just on ore; you have to have scrap iron as well. You ought to know that even if you are a Sleeper. Matter of fact, with high-grade ore so scarce, there's more and more demand for scrap. The steel industry needs these cars."
"But why build them in the first place if they can't be sold? It seems wasteful."
"It just seems wasteful. You want to throw people out of work? You want to run down the standard of living?"
"Well, why not ship them abroad? It seems to me they could get more for them on the open market abroad than they are worth as Scrap."
"What!-and ruin the export market? Besides, if we started dumping cars abroad we'd get everybody sore at us-Japan, France, Germany, Great Asia, everybody. What are you aiming to do? Start a war?" He sighed and went on in a fatherly tone. "You go down to the public library and draw out some books. You don't have any right to opinions on these things until you know something about them."

Cuando leo una novela de la edad de oro de la ciencia ficción, suelo verla de forma crítica, normalmente están muy bien escritas (con una prosa más elaborada que las actuales), pero casi siempre contienen elementos anacrónicos, cosas que a un escritor actual no se le ocurrirían porque simplemente el tiempo ha hecho que ciertas ideas resulten absurdas y sin sentido.

No voy a negar que con este libro me pasa también, pero la cuestión es que el optimismo y la ingenuidad que desprende hace que le perdone casi todo. Heinlein era (al menos en el momento que escribió este libro) un hombre optimista que pensaba que el desarrollo científico y tecnológico serviría para mejorar la vida de los seres humanos... La realidad es mucho más dura y se ha demostrado que el avance tecnológico tiene un lado oscuro, un precio que pagar, pero es refrescante encontrarte hoy en día con novelas como esta. La ingenuidad de aquellos años 50 hace que tengamos una historia feliz, luminosa y alegre, con mucho sentido del humor. Si se escribiese hoy en día sería una historia oscura, pesimista y seria.

(გარდა ფანტასტიკური, საინტერესო, სამომავლო წინასწარმეტყველებებისა, ძალიან საინტერესოა ამ ავტორის დრამატული ხაზი). ძალიან კარგად იყო გადმოცემული მთავარი გმირის წინააღმდეგ შეთქმულება. სამწუხაროდ, რომანის მეორე ნაწილი რაღაც ძაან მიფუჩეჩებული მომეჩვენა. არ იყო შურისძიება, არ იყო კვანძის გახსნა და მოკლე ძალიან კარგად შეიძლებოდა დრამატული ხაზის გაშლა და ჩახუჭუჭება. თითქოს მწერალს დასრულება ეჩქარებოდა და მთლიანად ფანტასტიკური იდეის განვითარებას დაუთმო დრო და მოკლედ გადმოგვცა სათქმელი.
ცოტა "ჟუტკი" იყო 11 წლის გოგოსთან დაგეგმილი სამომავლო ქორწინება. მერე რა, რომ გაზრდილი ნახა მანამდე. მაინც რაღაც პედოფილური იყო ამ ყველაფერში. რაღაცით "გრძელფეხება მამილოს" გავდა.
