This play belonging to the 1890s depicts the hypocritical aristocratic group of people from London. It in all perceptibility and plausibility delineates that the concept of “an ideal husband” is just a misnomer

Another thoroughly enchanting story by Wilde. A politician is blackmailed by a woman who knows he sold government secrets in the past. His wife is hard on people who have done wrong. He is terrified she will find out. Should he give in to the blackmail? Another reminder from Wilde that people are complex and should not be pigeonholed. A happy ending, as well, with everyone ending up more intelligent than when they started.

Underrated gem, in my opinion. Very witty commentary on society, and morality apart from convention. Delightful characters, and a perfect trove of quotes.

Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys dry humor, satire, or good turn of the century literature.
