A great book of humble beginnings

This story follows the life of Dominick and his paranoid schizophrenic twin Thomas. Wally Lamb is able to develop complex characters with incredible emotional depth. This book will cause you heartache, will give you hope, and will leave you feeling nothing but satisfied by the conclusion.

Dominick. What a cross to bear. What can I say about this book? For 2 days straight, it was just me and this book. One of those rare ones you can’t stop thinking about.

Again, Wally Lamb. This book is about two identical twins in two very different worlds. Dominic is strong willed, confused, yet thoughtful. His brother is schizophrenic, depressed and in an institution.
The book starts out in a shocking way revealing a situation that stuns a little city. Dominic is in the whirlwind of it.
The book then leads us back and forth from present day to back in his childhood dealing with his shy mother and his overbearing and hateful step father. He and his brother are close but as they get older and Dominic wants to start a new life far away from his family, and especially his brother who is starting to act strangely. Unfortunately his brother ends up following him until his death. And still haunts him after.
I Know This Much is True is also a love story. Full of romance, hate and deceit. You get to love and hate the character and the way he reacts to each situation. You can feel for him and understand his anger. It’s very compelling. And along the way we get to learn of his grandfather who wrote his memoir and Dominic starts to realize why he is the way he is and how he is going to change his life for the better.
