This is a cute counting picture book. The rhyming was comforting, the illustrations fun for kids, and the math part subtle but yet effective. There is even a little bit of a lesson about blame included at the end.

This book is about a group of ants who travel in a group of 100 to a picnic. The group is so large that it takes them a long time to get to the picnic. To cut down on the amount of time it's taking to get to the picnic the ants break themselves into smaller groups. When they finally get there they encounter a surprise. This book is an awesome book to use when teaching grouping larger numbers into groups with smaller numbers. This book is good for grades k-5.

This book teaches students a lot about number sense and different ways to get the same number.
Read this book on our 100th day of school. The class really enjoyed it (although they did not quite understand the math...they are 4-5 years old). The ants are hungry and on their way to a picnic. On the way, the smallest ant tells them to stop and get into shorter lines to get there quicker. The pictures on each page show various animals walking away with food while the ants are still on the way. Will they arrive in time or will it all be gone?

Also making 4 rows of 25 and 10 rows 10 along the way. This a wonderful book to teach about all the different ways to make one hundred or any number. So while this is definitely a kid's math book, it was recommended to me as a business parable. As a parable, it seems to recommend against useless restructuring. And maybe making sure there is someone to question the leader.
