John Irving's books have a certain sameness about them, even as they go off in many different directions.
Here it is interesting that he has writers as characters, and that the main writer character is a woman, but he seems oddly obsessed with this character's breasts. Everything about this novel is done well, and yet in a few weeks, I won't be able to remember which of his novels I've read. Was there one about a circus? And India? I really liked that one.
