Hacía mucho tiempo que un libro no me atraía tanto al nivel de casi no poder soltarlo. Me encantó, mi puntuación es más un 4.5 porque hubo un par de cosas que no me terminaron de cerrar, pero en general estuvo muy bien y me pareció un libro bastante fresco y ligero. El final me sorprendió gratamente y, honestamente, me quedó un sabor amargo como queriendo saber más.

Si no cuentan los días que estaba en exámenes, sería el libro que he leído más rápido en estos días. Sí, la universidad quita tiempo.

Carlos Ruiz Zafón, aunque es su primera obra si no me equivoco, es capaz de crear un escenario tan creíble para el lector. Toda la vida admiraré su prosa. Además, en este libro, introduce algo de suspenso que, evidentemente, está muy bien planteado.
Le iba a dar un puntaje de 3.5 porque sentí que los momentos del bote fueron más largos que los de suspenso. Sin embargo, el epílogo es hermoso.

Superba aventura, din nou. Un personaj misterios, Cain, indeplineste dorinte pt un pret mare, mult prea mare. Personajele sunt bine conturate, puternice. Excelent mister.

Although this isn't a novel as famous as the Shadow of the Wind, The Prince of Mist was the book that allowed me to discover Carlos Ruiz Zafon. I still remember reading it one summer when I was 12; that story strucks me very deeply. The mixture of mystery and terror of the book is ideal for a young reader (or not so young) who wants to enter the dark world of mystery and terror novels.

Me ha encantado volver a las páginas y la forma de escritura de Carlos Ruiz Zafón con este novela más juvenil que tiene un toque de fantasía, misterio, aventuras y una atmósfera un poco inquietante.

La historia sigue a Max Carver, un joven que se muda con su familia a un pequeño pueblo costero en plena Segunda Guerra Mundial (la verdad es que me hubiera gustado saber la ubicación de este lugar, pero en ningún momento lo dice). Allí, descubre un inquietante jardín de estatuas cubierto de niebla y empieza a desentrañar los oscuros secretos de la casa en la que ahora viven. Junto a su hermana Alicia y su nuevo amigo Roland, Max se ve envuelto en un misterio relacionado con el Príncipe de la Niebla, un personaje capaz de conceder deseos a un precio terrible.

Uno de los puntos más destacables de la novela es su atmósfera envolvente. El autor logra crear un ambiente cargado de misterio y tensión, con descripciones que transportan al lector a ese pueblo costero donde lo sobrenatural acecha en cada rincón. La manera en que juega con la luz, la niebla y los sonidos refuerza la sensación de inquietud a lo largo de la historia.

El libro también destaca por su ritmo ágil y su capacidad para mantener el suspense. Aunque es una obra dirigida al público juvenil, el autor construye una trama intrigante con varios giros (quizás algunos de ellos inesperados para un lector más novel). Además, he de añadir que hay ciertos acontecimientos en la trama que parecen suceder sin una explicación clara o con una lógica que cuesta seguir, lo que en algunos momentos me sacó un poco de la historia.Como por ejemplo, no entiendo la necesidad que tenía Caín de hacer daño a la hermana de Max, Irina, así porque sí, simplemente porque es un ente maligno y ya está, no encuentro la lógica de esta acción con respecto a la trama. Tampoco llegué a entender bien qué es lo que hacía Victor Kray en el faro (a parte de encargarse del faro y de que ningún barco encallara) como si su presencia ahí, supuestamente, pudiera ahuyentar a Caín, cuando después queda demostrado que él puede reaparecer, hacer y deshacer cualquier cosa cuando le viene en gana. Bueno, y lo de que los padres de Max no apareciesen en varios días porque se quedan en el hospital, dejándolos solos en una casa donde ocurren cosas extrañas, y desatienden completamente a sus dos hijos, no me pareció tampoco lógico.

Otro de sus puntos débiles es el escaso desarrollo de los personajes. Debido a su corta extensión, la historia no profundiza demasiado en ellos, y esto hace que algunas de sus decisiones o emociones no terminen de sentirse del todo creíbles.

A pesar de estos detalles, "El príncipe de la niebla" sigue siendo una lectura entretenida, que atrapa y deja una sensación de melancolía. Su ritmo ágil, su toque de terror juvenil y su capacidad para generar suspense hacen que sea una historia ideal y una excelente puerta de entrada al universo narrativo de Carlos Ruiz Zafón y a su particular manera de contar historias.

یه سری جاها حس می‌کردم نمی‌تونم زاویه‌دیدش رو تشخیص بدم. برای دانای کل کم می‌دونست و برای سوم‌شخص زیاد. دیگه خیلی ذهنم رو درگیرش نکردم.
شخصیت دکتر قابیل، خیلی من رو یاد ارباب معامله‌ی مجموعه بخشنده انداخت. خیلی!

تعد رواية أمير الضباب للكاتب الأسباني كارلوس زافون هي الأولى في انتاجه الأدبي قبل أن يحظى بشهرته الكبيرة حاليا. وقد كتبها في بداية التسعينات وهي موجهة للقراء في مقتبل العمر. وتلاها بروايتين من نفس النوع تم ترجمتها من الإنجليزية إلى الأسبانية بعد عشر سنوات من نشرها. ينتقل أبطال الرواية الفتى ماكس والفتاة ايليسا أبناء صانع الساعات ماكسميليان كريڤر إلى قرية ساحلية مع أسرتهم هربا من الحرب وهناك يتعرفون على رونالد وهو حفيد تبناه حارس الفنار المسن ڤيكتور كراي. وفي المنزل القديم الذي تقطنه أسرة كريڤر جهاز عرض سينمائي يكشف أسرار أسرة صاحب المنزل السابق وأسرته والتي تتعلق بساحر يدعى قابيل يتجسد في أشكال مختلفة كالقط والمهرج والحوت ويغري ضحاياه بتحقيق أمنية لهم مقابل التضحية بأعز ما يمتلكون - أرواح أبنائهم. تمزج الرواية الخيال بالإثارة وشيء من الرومانسية وبرغم بساطتها وسذاجة بعض أحداثها إلا أنها تمتع القاريء وتدفعه لمواصلة القراءة للوصول إلى آخر صفحة للكشف عن لغز معقد يصعب شرحه.

Krótka, ale szalenie wciągającą. Nie mogłam się od niej oderwać, czułam, że mrok i mgła otaczają mnie ze wszystkich stron, nie pozwalając, abym odłożyła książkę choć na chwilę. Ostatnie 50 stron przeciągałam przez dwa dni, bo czułam, że zbyt szybko rozstaję się z tą historią. Chciałabym, żeby zakończenie zaskoczyło mnie ciut bardziej, po dłuższym zastanowieniu stwierdzam, że jak dla mnie było zbyt urwane.

Who would have thought that Zafon, best known for The Shadow of the Wind and The Angel’s Game, started his writing life as a young adult author? After he became famous his YA books were published in English translation, some of which had won YA awards in Spain. I picked it up without knowing it was a YA book.

The story is a spooky mystery based around the main character, a pre-teen boy, his older sister and the boy’s older friend. It is set in a coastal village in Spain just before WW II. So within the first few pages we have a railway station clock running backwards. And I thought – “I get it – Harry Potter!” And the story is Harry Potterish.



With the war pending, the boy’s father decides to move the family out of the big city to a coastal village. At first the family is unaware that the last boy who lived in that house drowned.

We have a sunken ship in shallow water that the kids dive to and pick up treasures; a cemetery of circus freak statues that move and change position; an evil cat that sends a little girl into a coma; an ancient mariner who built his own lighthouse; an old film projector in the basement and old films that start showing current events. Of course the boy’s sister and the older friend fall in love.

You don’t read a YA book for its literary value, so you get some clichés and lame metaphors like this when the boy learns they are going to move: “To him, the news felt like a mad steam train hurtling through a china shop. His mind went blank, his mouth sagged, and his eyes glazed over.” I’m not a YA reader but I thought it was a good story and it kept my interest.



The Spanish author is best known for his Cemetery of Forgotten Books trilogy: The Shadow of the Wind, The Angel's Game and The Prisoner of Heaven. He died in 2020 from cancer at age 55.

Wow, I am NEVER. EVER. going to watch Paranormal Activity.

Several scenes early in this book were SO SCARY that I had to put the book down to read something lighter to de-creep myself before I could fall asleep*. So, at least until I start living with other people again, I'm not allowed to read/watch anything scarier than this. :)

So yeah, it's creepy. As soon as the creepiness is explained, I was fine, so it really was just a few early scenes, but I'm an anticipation person and the unknown creeps me out.

Anyway, it's a translated book, and that occasionally shows with awkward turns of phrase. But there are also some really lovely phrases that impressed me so much that I had to grab a pen. Really beautiful writing at times.

I liked that this combined a nonspecific location with historical fiction and the paranormal element. There's a lot going here.

And I'll put it on my maybe booktalk list for next time I hit the middle schools.





*One of those nights, I put down this book to look up and see a giant spider (I would include a picture, but researching exactly which type is creeping me out too much) on my ceiling. My life is so hard.

Me ha gustado, una historia bien construida, una vez que inicias no puedes parar, lo he leído en una tarde. Una buena trama, verano del 1943 época de guerra y maravillosos personajes. Es un misterio juvenil con intrigas y una historia de amor. Es el segundo libro que he leído de zafón, en este el estilo fue diferente, yo diría menos dramático.
