Не дуже хороша книга для початку року.
Я втомилась рахувати кількість фейспалмів, від дій Бріджит.
Але з іншої сторони я хотіла дізнатись, чим ж закінчаться стосунки Марка і Бріджит.

I was listening to audiobook and Imogen Church done such a great job! I was cackling out loud and it is the best narration ever.

This book should be retitled as Bridget Jones: The Unnecessary Sequel. Bridget returns as the hapless and can't-get-it-together heroine with plenty of love, work and weight troubles. The first book has a happy ending and I thought that was the end of it. Since it's so successful, of course the author cannot resist conjuring contrived plot lines for Bridget's second adventure.

Bridget came across as charming and endearing in the first book but here she becomes annoying and irritating. I (or the readers) love her int he first book because Bridget is not flawless. This makes her a very accessible character. However, the contrived plot lines of this book has managed to create a gratingly stupid Bridget which I cannot empathise with anymore.

This is what happens when authors go on beyond the 'happily ever after' last line.

"Ahora es muy difícil para los jóvenes —volvió a interrumpir Elaine, mirándome fijamente—. Una chica puede casarse con cualquiera cuando tiene dieciocho años. Pero cuando ha formado su carácter, aceptar la realidad de un hombre tiene que parecer insufrible."

So just like the first book, the movie was actually better even though it was terrible.

This book is just plainly problematic, from uses of degrading racial terms (the n-word, “oriental”) to the entire country of Thailand and its people being relegated to the backdrop of Bridget’s drama as she constantly harps on about the backwardness of its “Third-World” conditions and omg!! what weird culture!!! Let’s talk about Madonna because that’s feminism!!!

She also continues to listen to everything her friends tell her (all of which is stupid) and has no thoughts of her own. Her relationship with Mark Darcy is toxic and non-communicative and during this entire reading experience I was bouncing between “WOW Mark and Bridget are terrible and deserve each other” and “I cannot think of two people who shouldn’t be in a relationship as much as these two.”

Very very outdated (actually this is worse than Bridget Jones's Diary). Imo it made sense having one chapter = one month of diary entries in the first book. But here the months are spread across longer chapters & I felt it made the second book harder to read. Just....yeah I probably won't continue this series (I still adore the films however).

To było baaaardzo złe.

Bridget ma mentalność nastolatki (zaryzykowałabym stwierdzenie, że od części pierwszej poważnie się cofnęła). Wiedzę o relacjach międzyludzkich czerpie z poradników książkowych propagujących manipulację, a jednocześnie bagatelizuje porady od bliskich osób pozostających w szczęśliwych związkach małżeńskich. Jest uzależniona od alkoholu, nikotyny i ploteczek ze znajomymi. Prawdopodobnie zmaga się też z zaburzeniami odżywiania.

Główna bohaterka to trzydziestoparoletnia babka, która potrzebuje bardziej ojca niż partnera. Nie mam pojęcia, dlaczego autorka zestawiła ją z zaradnym, inteligentnym gościem z klasą. Ta relacja jest jak garść kostek cukru zjedzonych naraz - za słodka i zgrzyta między zębami.

Dlaczego zatem dwie gwiazdki zamiast jednej? Książka jest "very czytable". Miałam świadomość, że czytam potworne głupoty, ale lektura sama szła dalej.

I desperately love Bridget, I really do, but the story just wasn't as funny the second time around.

I never thought I would tire of British humour, but - while The Edge of Reason is still VERY FUNNY - the plot line relies a lot on miscommunication stemming from the characters bumbling about and being unable to speak candidly about a situation or say what they really mean. Gets a bit old.

I don't think I'll carry on with the series. The original Bridget Jones Diary is absolute comedic and chick-lit gold and I'd recommend just sticking with that one.

Not as good as the first but still worthy of attention.

Necesitaba un libro que me quitase del bloqueo y nadie mejor que la bridgeta para eso. Al principio me aburría muchísimo y lo estaba leyendo un poco por encima porque desde febrero a junio no es que pase mucho interesante. A partir de los meses de verano no pude soltar el libro, estaba enganchada - la trama de Tailandia coincidiendo con la muerte de Lady Di 10/10 a la escritora.

He de decir que hubo momento en los que pensé que Bridget necesitaba seriamente ir a terapia y resolver toda su ansiedad (lo sigue necesitando) pero después de tirar los libros de autoayuda la noto mucho más estable.

No es un gran libro, pero es que creo que todas en algún momento hemos podido empatizar con Bridget. Realmente le daría un 3,5.
