One of my birthday presents from last year and I finally read it. This is a play by "The Talent Family" Amy Sedaris and David Sedaris. Very funny. I could picture Amy as Sister Liz (and Brother Hesikiah).
This is a very funny play that almost seems like it would work better on paper than on stage. There are long, meandering monologues with silly references that sound funnier in my head than I imagine they would out loud. The right cast, though, could probably bring this witty play to hilarious life.
There were some good jokes, but overall it felt a little mean spirited in places and I’m just not comfortable with that. Just pokes fun at a lot of people and rubbed me the wrong way.
I love David Sedaris, so I was excited about reading this. Perhaps I was expecting too much. Didn't make me laugh hardly at all. Perhap it was because I've seen Book of Mormon!! Did like the ending, however.
