When it comes to politics…I despise BOTH political parties. I’m an equal opportunity hater, and I think the whole lot are terminally infected with greedy, contemptible, hypocritical scumbagginess.
n  n

About the only thing I detest more than the politicians themselves, are the self-appointed, idiotic, partisan flamethrowers who have nothing...NOTHING...to contribute to the discussion of real issues facing the country. It's all just vitriol, sound-byte platitudes and ceaseless aggression.

They could all use a good caning as far as I'm concerned.

Therefore, in the spirit of fighting nasty, vicious hypocrisy with lewd gestures, funny pics and a heaping helping of "you all totally suck," I give you, with some assistance from people far better than me, my illustrated review of one of Annie’s greatest crimes against literature.

Johnny, any views on Ann Coulter that you feel like sharing with the good people of goodreads?

Ouch...a bit harsh, Mr. Cash. Fair...but harsh. Let’s see if we can garner a more cordial response from our well-mannered grandma. Grams, what do you think of Ann and her hate-fueled, one-sided diatribe?
n  n
Yikes…I guess trying to gut medical benefits didn’t sit well with the older folks.

Maybe we should look at this more philosophically, and petition a wise and ancient sage what advice he would give to Ann on conducting her public discourse in the future?

Ms. Crusty is certainly not popular with the music industry, the elderly or the intellectual elite. How about we try a more egalitarian approach and leave it to the good, hardworking members of the public to decide how they feel about Ann and her never ending, never cogent, never entertaining bag of wind.
n  n

There you have it...the people have spoken.

Oh…and for those who care, I read this book and it well and truly sucked big, salt-crusted, hairy sacks of moose balls. Nothing to learn, nothing to ponder, nothing to take away...except disgust.

Coming soon….the Republican response starring [uh, no spoilers].

I admit that I read many reviews first and thought this is go to be interesting because of all the polarized reviews on this book, so I give this a listen. Wow! She sure knows how to incite. With the her intensity turned passed max and her contrast set to pure black and white, Ann machine guns her views through all dimensions of life, values, and humanity to hit any target that isn't on her island. If you agree with her I can see that some of this might be funny to you, but she is so insulting that I just can't respect anything she says. Whether you agree with her or not, you have to wonder why she chooses this style to preach her message, it's not a style that will convert anyone, and I can't help but wonder how closely this captures her real personal beliefs and how much of it is just calculated sensationalism for profit. Applying my value of appreciating the richness of diversity, for those that share her views, go for it. But her acidic irreverence for other ideas has me shelving this one in humor.

It was very...interesting. As a democrat and a liberal, I wanted to find out what fuels the other side. As content goes, it was very poor, as she made blanket statements and backed up her work with only a few examples which could be easily refuted. Her arguements were devoid of logic, not due to content but due to the way she argued. A high school debater could have made her book look like a fool.

The Harpy Strikes Back

Opposed to women's rights, social equality and public safety nets for society's least fortunate isn't enough for her. Coulter also lambasts the widows of 9/11 victims in this venom-filled, fact-free rant (I guess she needed more money for her numerous habits, a la Rush Limbaugh et al). If the Republicans wish to regain power and retain it for any decent length of time, the first thing they should do is repudiate and sever all ties with this Botox-enhanced sociopath.

Here are some fine examples of Christian love showcased by this bigot (who also happens to have an Adam's apple):

"Even if evolution were true, it wouldn't disprove God. God has performed more spectacular feats than evolution. It's not even a daunting challenge to a belief in God. If you want something that complicates a belief in God, try coming to terms with Michael Moore being one of God's special creatures.” I guess she doesn't need all those vaccines that we've developed as a result of applying Darwin's profound discoveries.

“The New York Times and the rest of the mainstream media will only refer to partial birth abortion as 'what its opponents refer to as partial birth abortions.' What do its supporters call it? Casual Fridays? Bean-with-bacon potato chip dip? Uh . . . Steve?”

Insults aside, Coulter is implying that it's better to let women AND baby die from inoperable, untreatable conditions than to save a woman's life or relive her burden. Why should women be forced to carry a dead baby to term?

“No matter what argument you make against evolution, the response is Well, you know, it's possible to believe in evolution and believe in God. Yes, and it's possible to believe in Spiderman and believe in God, but that doesn't prove Spiderman is true.”

The irony here is almost sufficient to feed the malnourished children of Africa. The necessity of evolution to produce god's ostensible masterpiece (human beings) calls god's competence and omnipotence into question.

Although some of the things she says are a little caustic, I thought it was informative. The democrats are very against teaching Christianity in schools, but they have replaced it with their own religion and set of values. Instead of teaching creationism, they demand teaching evolution (which many atheistic scientist agree is not supported by scientific evidence.) There were a lot of other things that were worth reading.

This book was mere curiousity for me. I hated her before I had a valid reason, and lo and behold, after I read this I validated my feelings towards her.

I am doing this in three parts and then I am going to rant. 5 stars for Getting the reader mad about all that is going on this world. I did agree with most of what she said and it riled me up and then there were parts I did'nt agree and I got riled up!

3 stars - there was facts that was distrubing but also there was generalizing. In the generalizing you are more decisive then actually doing anything about it. Case in point. All liberals are stupid. That is the general ideal you get but I don't think that is true. There is many conservatives that could be called stupid or no common sense but to say that or to apply that does not solve the problem is just causes division.

1 star to her speil on teachers. It is not the teachers fault that our country is failing education. I have two children that have gone thru the education system. They have had good teachers. I can say that some of the schools may have not so good administrators but I can say that we have been blessed with good teachers. Our school district has taught and encouraged very well I might add on having no sex and the consequences of having sex. Our school district did have a candle light service (for Christmas that was voluntary) that was changed to all faiths after some parent complained and the ACLU came in and changed it. I live outside the Kansas City School district and I never heard of the blurb that Ann had in her book about the pool in the school or whatever it was. Kansas City School district has major problems and it's not money problems but more political problems in the administration and lack of parent involvement. Not parents screaming at their teachers that does not constitute being involved but parents that are leading their children to learn and respect others.

I think a good resource if people are really concerned about the truth is "The Truth Project" that Focus on the Family has produced. Many liberals probably have just heard bad things about Focus on the Family but if you are as tolerant as you say you are, I would suggest to give it a hear and consideration. Jesus came to testify to the truth. And before Pontius Pilate gave Jesus over to be crucified He wiggled himself out of facing the truth by saying what is truth. There is truth and it is coming back. In the cause of social justice, we need to all be seeking the truth of ourselves and what is going on in our world.

I was having trouble staying awake, so I thought I'd read something to get me angry to wake me up. I remembered Ann Coulter used to get airtime for insulting "9/11 widows", and for some reason Goodreads keeps recommending this book, so I thought I'd give it a go.

I gave up with her ramblings about the death penalty. Not because I was angered.

Because I was bored.

There's nothing new here. Not even an original new twist on hate. She just hates anything that isn't her, including plants and animals. She tries to have this conspiracy theory thing going, but Alex Jones did it much better.

Hunter S. Thompson noted in 1972 that hate is alive and well in America. Nothing's changed. Except if you write a book filled with hate, you get published. And it becomes a bestseller. You don't even have to say anything original.

So, here goes:

Ann Coulter: Millions of people will attend your funeral.

They all want to make sure you're dead.

OK, where's my book deal?

I differ with her on some views expressed in the book, and I don't like that she used some mild profanity and some of her jokes were a little too mean. But mostly I really liked this book. This is my first Ann Coulter book and I definitely want to read more. It's the style of political book that I like.
If it weren't for the language, the mean jokes, and an issue or two I believed she was wrong on, I would say this is probably a 4 1/2 star book!

I have never heard this take on it before, nor have I heard of any of Ann Coulters other works but I do find it interesting. I may not have been able to understand all od her points, which I blame on my age. But I agree with her core points
