相當厚的一本食譜(約6-7公分寬@@),裡面比較特別的是大量介紹廚房的用具、以及各種肉類、海鮮、食品、蔬菜的處理方式,是一本很適合初學者使用的工具書!!

This is by far my wife's favorite cookbook. It's the type of cookbook you'd expect from Consumer Reports. The directions are extremely clear and any guesswork is eliminated. The book offers lots of helpful hints along with their top picks for equipment and recipe items. On many occasions we've agreed that the dishes my wife has made from this cookbook were the best we've ever had. This cookbook should be in every home. Their show on PBS is also excellent.

Is it weird to have a signed cookbook? Well, if it is or not, mine is signed. I was living in Boston (where ATK is located) when this one came out, so I went to the book signing. Very interesting listening to the cooks interact and explain what they do and don't like about the book, and about their customers! They all seemed quite frustrated that people don't tend to follow precisely the recipes that they work so hard on. A great book but, to be honest, recipes do tend to be a bit too exact for me; I like to experiment and take shortcuts. But this is a good one if I do ever feel like being so detail-oriented. I'm sure the final product would be fantastic.

America's Test Kitchen puts out the best cookbooks. This particular version offers some 30 minute or less meals, as well as pared back versions of recipes found in some of their other books. This is based on the PBS series and the magazine of the same name. All recipes are taste tested by a panel before printing, sometimes to extreme lengths. The directions are always concise and I love reading the back stories about how their testing went.

My mom gifted me this in 2006, when I was a grad student living on my own and desperately needed to learn to cook. This cookbook taught me to cook, along with cultivating a better sense of taste and an appreciation for fine food made from normal ingredients. In 6 years, only a handful of recipes have been deemed "never cook again" - and that's out of hundreds of recipes I've tried (yes, I counted up every recipe I made out of this particular book). Whenever I cook from this book for company, everyone wants the recipe. You can't go wrong! I especially am fond of the entire slow-cooker section (it saved my sanity as an employed full-time newly married woman).

I am working on adding a few more standby recipes. America's Test Kitchen is one of my favourite resources for new recipes. They are always well laid out, explained, and illustrated. The geek in me loves the why behind the recipe too. I will be using this book through out the year as my resource for "create" meals. I am also working on turning over more of the cooking to the girls so will use this with them as well.

i am so excited to have found the joy of cooking/betty crocker cookbook of the 21st century. you can't really beat the nerd chef's appeal of this cookbook. the test kitchen TESTS ALL THE RECIPES and then tells you how to do it just right... with fabulous little hinty-bits about techniques AND they also test products and give recommendations about the best things to buy. now, as one that doesn't necessarily appreciate product placement, this part was a little weird and it definitely dates the book as time passes, but all the same, it does influence me as i think the america's test kitchen really is an authority source (i am sway-able).

This would be my deserted island cookbook. Thanks to Chris Kimball and his test kitchen crew, my recipes ALWAYS turn out. (If I follow all their steps/ingredients.)

This is one of my new favorite cookbooks. I checked it out from the library and liked it so much that my husband bought it for me. Every recipe I've tried has turned out really well. Not all of the recipes are simple or quick enough for weeknight meals, but you can be sure they'll be delicious. If you are a fan of the PBS show, you'll love this cookbook. It even rates ingredients and cooking equipment.

This is a HUGE cookbook. It is a three ring binder format - which makes me question it's authority. Why would any worthwhile cookbook be in a three ring binder. Am I going to add to it, take things away? It is a mess that is for sure.

The recipes are good and there are many to choose from. With over 800 pages, 1200 recipes and 23 sections... it can be overwhleming. This is not a functioning cookbook for me.
