Scoprendo Tuta

I enjoyed this book. It ended rather abruptly. I would have like a few more details at what Carter was up to at the end. But still a good read. Thank you to the Author!

I always enjoy seeing Egypt through the eyes of Christian Jacq.
I've said before how much I wish I could read his works in their native French. A translation can easily detract from the feel of a novel, and there were a few times in this book where I paused; thrown by a word choice or sentence structure. I maintain that the translation style of Mary Feeney in Jacq's Ramses series was superior, despite a few anachronistic idioms here and there, but The Tutankhamun Affair read well overall.
To be fair, it's hard to go wrong when you put me and Egypt together.

I think I like his novels set in ancient Egypt more but I enjoyed this one too. The finding of Tutankhamun is one of the most exciting things in egyptology.

Simply delightful! I loved it to bits. Being an archaeologist I appreciated even more the descriptions about the excavation and the recording of artefacts. The details are amazing and offer a better understanding of the events which surrounded the discovery and early study of the tomb of Tutankhamun. Christian Jacq's books are always good but this one is mesmerizing.

I felt like this was wonderful historical fiction retelling of Howard Carter and his discovery of Tutankamun.

I love Christian jacqs books as his egyptian facts are all correct. Sometimes the english translation has not been done well. This is one of the good ones.

The perfect historical book that didn't bore me for even a second and that I completely devoured page by page, chapter by chapter.
The disadvantages of historical books are that they usually are big but slow and that they can info-dump and don't have really lively characters, plot or dialogue, but this book had all this and included witty remarks and speech.
I felt like everything was happening right in front of my eyes and I was stunned by the beauty of the whole story and the writing.
On another note,I was really saddened and disgusted by the way people treated a passionate genius who gave his soul to Egypt like Carter.I hope that Carter at least died happy and I'm glad that he fulfilled his dream.
5/5 stars!!
