I enjoyed this book because I love baseball and the story behind the boy keeps you wanting to read more. It isn't all about sports, and it gives a lot of background too. Although very good at baseball, Michael deals with the everyday struggles of being a Cuban immigrant. His father is dead, and his brother is not of age to be taking care of him legally. Michael and Carlos are trying to work around the police and even the community of finding out the truth, but Michael's fantastic baseball skills is making that hard for the both of them. I would recommend this book to young athletes.

I’ve had lots of students (boys who won’t read anything unless it’s about sports) do their book reports on Mike Lupica books. Kudos to him for reaching an entire generation of reluctant readers and providing an avenue for them to have a positive role model in their lives. The book is good, albeit predictable, but it gives a glimpse into the world of little-league baseball like no other I’ve read.

“The Heat” was about a twelve year old boy named Michael Arroyo who could throw some serious “heat” on the diamond, being able to hit 80 miles per hours. The story is about his journey to the little league world series in Williamsport Pennsylvania. Overall I like the read as it was very easy and fun to get through. I also found the story relatable as I work hard with my team in little league to get to Williamsport, but we weren't good enough to make it. I would recommend this book to someone who is looking for a good read and feels that they can relate to the journey to Williamsport.

This book was one of the best books from Mike Lupica in my opinion. This book was very amazing. I am so surprised that he can come up with all of these plot twists. I don't usually like baseball but this book has made me reconsider my thought about baseball. When his father died, I felt his pain, and it is hard to do that in a book. How he deals with his father dieing, but continuing on at twelve years old with his brother is amazing. This shows great strength and courage that I hope I would have if I had to go through that. This is truly inspiring. This had turned out to be one of my favorite Mike Lupica book.

I read “Heat” by Mike Lupica. Heat was about a seventeen year old boy named Michael Arroyo. He had very big dreams that he wanted to reach. His little league team was very good. They were expected to go to Williamsport, Pennsylvania for Little League World Series. Michael was the best player on the team, and he was the best pitcher in the league. When he was younger, his dad died so Michael was living with his brother Carlos, and they lived in an apartment. Carlos had two jobs to pay the bills and for food. They lived a life full of secrets. They didn’t want anyone to find out about them. because they were afraid of being send back to cuba. Michael’s best friend, Manny, knew and always was good to not tell anyone. One day, a team in the league thought Michael was too old to play, but at that point Michael and Carlos couldn’t find his birth certificate so he couldn’t play. One day he got help from the league commissioner and some friends of his from Michaels’ hometown. They found his birth certificate just in time for him to finish the playoff game and go play at Yankee Stadium. It was always his dream to play at Yankee Stadium and to make it to the Little League World Series. They won the game, and he did get to play at Yankee Stadium. He played the best game of his life to make it to Williamsport, Pennsylvania to play in the Little League World Series.

Michael and his brother, Carlos, struggled through every day to just get by. They both knew that just one mistake, and they will get sent back to Cuba or get split up. They both are very hard working and earned everything they had. Manny, Michael’s best friend, knew everything and did anything to keep the best player on the team.

They lived in a small apartment in downtown Bronx, New York. They lived right next to Yankee Stadium and can always hear what’s going on inside the game. The story takes place during the baseball season in the summer.

The author’s message in the “Heat” is that everyone should have dreams. With these dreams, you should know what, and how you want to accomplish them. It will never be easy, but if you keep working, things will work out, and you will accomplish your dreams. Just don’t give up, and know you can do it.

I loved this book. The book kept me wanting to read more. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves sports, and who wants to accomplish their goals. The book is very easy to read and understand. It would be great for all ages.

I really enjoyed the book heat by Mike Lupica.
Mike Lupica made me feel like I was write there with Michael Arrory . He took me through the adventures of Michael and him doing anything he can to make it big and survive in the city.
Mike is a poor kid that lives in the Bronx's and has a crazy passion for baseball. Michaels dream is almost stopped due to one girl and a issue with his American citizenship. I would recommend this book to anyone. I don't play baseball and I still liked it.

I found myself somewhat liking this book. It wasn't my favorite, but it was still good. I think that this book would be more appealing to people more interested in sports fiction.

This book had many twists and turns throughout it. If you read this book one chapter at a time you will find it full of cliff hangers. There are many baseball terms used throughout the book, so I would recommend either researching the terms you see but don't know, or research baseball terms before you read it.

There are many different problems that occur throughout the book, most branching off of the main problem. I found it easy to immerse myself into these problems when they were occurring in the book.

There was some cliche that occurred in the book, but I still found it an enjoyable read.

I really liked this book even though at the end it was kind of cheesy and we all saw it coming but otherwise it was really good. I would give it a 4/5 also because most of the chapters were just about baseball, and I don't really have that much background knowledge about Baseball. So, it was kind of hard for me to read it and hard to understand it. I love when books have a lot of drama and a lot of characters reacting with each other even when they have nothing to do with each other.

This may seem like just another kids baseball book, but there is much more than meets the eye here. Michael and his brother Carlos are having a hard time living without their father. Although it may seem like Michael's life is falling apart, he keeps overcoming obstacles and holding on to his passion of baseball. There are many themes present in this book and although most readers haven't gone through what Michael and Carlos have gone through, they will find a way to relate to the characters. Common themes in the novel are grief, loss, and friendship. Once you start reading you won't want to put the book down, because of the fast-paced action and suspense of this thrilling novel.

Heat by Mike Lupica is a great book, it is about this kid named Michael Arroyo. His fastball is impossible to hit but his day to day life is nothing compared to his firepower. He is a new American citizen that had escaped from Cuba with his father and seventeen-year-old brother, Carlos. While Michael and Carlos are living in New York they have to keep a secret bigger than New York itself. To top it off Michael is playing Little League with a dream of making it to Williamsport. But no boy can through harder than Michael unless they were older, that is what some of the coaches think. Until Michael can find his birth certificate to prove his age, he can't play Little League. Will another blow come to the Arroyo family?
