An allegorical narrative about a character named Ordinary who leaves his land of Familiar in search of his big dream. The story is short but meaningful. I enjoyed second half of the book more than the first half. The second half has lessons which give substance to the story and apply to our lives, which I found helpful and encouraging. Overall I did enjoy this book!

This book is so inspiring and motivates the reader to have faith in the ONE who already has plans for our lives.

I suggest this book for anyone who has a dream and anyone who wants a dream. Mr. Wilkinson starts with a modern day parable but then he breaks it down into lessons that give practical guidance. This is one of those books you keep handy to read anytime you feel your faith failing or your dream shrinking.

This book was short and to the point. Bruce Wilkinson didn't drag on and overload you with too much information. Everything is useful and helpful and I really enjoyed it.

My favorite part of the book was the actual parable. It was done in a creative yet realistic way and I saw a lot of my own journey scattered across the pages as I read. In fact, I got so much from the parable I could have almost done without the informational part of the book, but I did understand its purpose.

I'm glad I read this and I can already see myself reading it again in the future, in my opinion, it was that good. I'd say give this a read if this is a subject area that interests you, even if you only read it for the parable, you'll get something out of it.

Regardless of your faith, this is one i highly recommend for anyone who aspires to live an abundant life. It takes courage and faith to be different.

A great and inspiring book. A beautiful and simple tale of ordinary leaving the land of familiar to pursue his dream, facing all the obstacles, desert and giants to finally reach his land of promise and live his big dream from the dreamgiver. Many great spiritual parallels to my life and inspiring experience. I have the audiobook version which I have listened to twice. I found a hard copy (which i much prefer) and plan to read it in that form next.

Interesting & thought provoking

I picked up the book because of a quotation I read from it while reading another book. I was impressed with the quotation and it got my attention. Unfortunately, the book didn't live up to my expectations. As a motivational book, it ticked all the boxes. A scripturally robust study of pursuing your purpose in life (the Dream), it was not. It left me with a warm fuzzy feeling, but the longer I meditated on it... I was left with more questions unanswered.

If you're a passionate person that's tired of living an ordinary life, give this book a read. It will open your eyes and give you steps toward you purpose in practical ways.
