Emily inherits her Grandmother's home in Nova Scotia. She moves away from her overbearing father and begins a new life. Sounds like an appealing plot, right?

Honestly, I was attracted to this book because I love the Emily of New Moon series and thought this would be a fun, modern spin on the L.M. Montgomery tale. Instead, it was just cheesy and grated on my nerves. I really wanted to like it - modern Emily inherits a historic home and turns it into a bed and breakfast on an island, all while being pursued by the island's bachelors. But I just couldn't get past the cliched characters or repetitive dialogue. Also, I felt like it was written by an 80-year-old, the language and fashion references were so dated.
