If i could give this book more than five stars, i definitely would. This is my best thriller book ever.

The story is about a Stephanie Plum a bounty hunter, she works with Ranger a hot Caucasian guy sometimes, they had a fling once and they are still attracted to each other, but she's currently dating her on and off boyfriend Morelli since high school.

She was working one day when one woman approached her and told her she was ranger's wife, and that they married six months ago, that he left her last week, so she's guessing he'll be with her since she taught they were having an affair, Stephanie told her it happened once a long time ago but the woman din't believe her. She called Ranger but he did not pick, she later saw on the news that he kidnapped his daughter from his ex wife, she got confused and din't know what to believe, She called his friend but he din't give her a tangible reply till one day she saw the dead body of the wife in her car packed outside her office, she called the cops and they cleaned it up.

She just knew it was not Ranger that killed her even though he wasn't picking his calls, she then went to his house for info, she found out on his PC that a guy was impersonating him and he knew, When she got home he was there waiting for her, He told her that the guy stole his identity and he kidnapped his daughter Julie and he obviously killed the so called wife,She believed him.

They started looking for the guy together, They found out his real name and the guy have being stalking Ranger trying to be like him, He decided to use her as bait to get to the guy since she's a huge part of his life.

The fake Ranger fell for it and kidnapped her, told her they'll live happily ever after together with the little girl, she tried to get away when they went out it worked but when they went back the girl was gone. She went back to her apartment and he was there with the girl waiting for her, he knocked her out and tied her up,When she woke up he told her that he have to kill the real Ranger before they all live together, Ranger came in and the imposter shot him multiple times, luckily for him he was wearing a vest. He wanted to shot Stephanie but Julie jumped on him, It was easier cause he was wounded, the gun flew off his hands and she got it and shot him but he din't die. Police got in and took Ranger to the hospital he did not die.

Julie was taken back to her mother and Stephanie went back to her job as bounty hunter, Ranger is recovering now.

4.5 stars, actually!
Hilarious, fast-paced and highly entertaining, as are all the Plum books!! I love Evanovich’s style of writing, and am so happy I have so many still left to read!

DNF @ page 69.

This was the most off-putting book I’ve ever read in my life. I had barely read to page 7 before I was thinking to myself, “This is atrocious. But it’s Evanovich, she has SO many books published, SO many in this series alone. Is it just me?” So I kept reading, giving her the benefit of the doubt since I knew I was reading the 12th in the series & not starting at the beginning. And since I knew that by the time people get to the 12th book, they already are so familiar with the characters. And that, if they’re still reading book 12, there MUST be a reason for it.

Sadly, I couldn’t find that reason. My main complaint was the “jokes”. They were so unusual that I even checked the pub date. I legitimately thought this could’ve been published in the 80’s based off the language and the humor. Both the language and humor would *easily* offend someone. I kept thinking, if a celebrity or politician had spoken today like the characters in this book do—the public would RIOT. I, myself wasn’t necessarily offended but I was VERY put off by it. And if you know me (which most of you don’t) I’m not easily offended. So for me to DNF because of this is pretty unusual & should be a pretty big indication. I also hardly ever, ever, ever DNF (ask my bookclub

It was great to have Ranger back and so involved in the story. Between his imposter (a crazy man) and his daughter’s kidnapping he was almost the star. Stephanie managed to keep her car in this book too. Surprising I know. I’m super happy this series is “never ending”, I haven’t managed to get tired of the stories yet and I hope I never do.

Not a great review but it’s almost midnight on New Year’s Eve cut me some slack. :-D

I've never read a book with an character as inept as Stephanie. Twelve books in and she is still a bumbling fool. I might have gotten fed up of the series if it weren't for the side characters that adds so much color and hilarity to the series. I don't like how Stephanie is still involved with Ranger while she's dating Joe. And I'm not a Ranger fan so two of them in this book was a bit too much for me. I really want Stephanie to choose Joe.

Yes, they are formulaic. Yes, they are light. Yes, they don’t challenge you. Well, so what. They’re a lot of fun. I’ve read all of the Stephanie Plum series, and I enjoy the formula, the humor, and the zany family (Grandma Mazur’s passion for funeral viewings is hysterically the opposite of the revulsion most of us have for such events.) I sooo empathize with Stephanie’s father who is just trying to hold it together in the presence of Grandma Mazur, who, having shot the Thanksgiving turkey with a .45 in a previous book, has now joined Lula’s band as a singer visiting retirement homes. They decide to practice at Stephanie’s during dinner and all Dad wants to do is watch the Yankees, but the noise, the costumes (Grandma is wearing a studded color and an ice cream cone bra, you get the picture) are driving him to a state Morelli can only describe as similar to victims of a multiple vehicle accident. Very funny scene. The only thing worrying me is that I suspect Grandma Mazur isn’t much older than I. That truly sucks.

In this volume, a Ranger wanna-be is stalking him and kidnaps his daughter, trying to become a pseudo-Ranger. He’s killing people who get in the way; but who cares about the plot. We read these for quirky and very funny characters.

A final note. Several of the one-star reviewers on Amazon complained that Stephanie was immoral and needs to stop sleeping with both Ranger and Morelli. That’s interesting because I had the sense (and my wife agrees) that that is not at all the case and that she has remained faithful to Morelli. Yes, in this one she “sleeps” with Ranger, but only literally and Platonicly. So to those who think Stephanie is immoral, get over it and go back to your Harlequins.

These books still make me laugh out loud, and I am enjoying them, but I am really getting annoyed with both Stephanie and Ranger. It bothers me a lot how much of a pushover Stephanie is. She says no to something, and everyone just goes and does it anyway and she just lets them. I don't think she would be half so incompetent at everything she tries if she would just stand up for herself and mean it. I mean, seriously!

**** Possible Spoilers...*****

And, I know Stephanie is to blame here too, but I am really getting annoyed with Ranger, and the fact that he never seems to care that Stephanie is dating Joe. Ranger made is clear he only wants to sleep with her, but she has a good thing with Joe, and sleeping with Ranger would definitely mess that up. Again, Stephanie needs more backbone, but seriously... It's one thing to make a move on her when she is in the off-again phase of her relationship, but she keeps telling him no, and he keeps at her anyway. If they end up sleeping together when she is dating Joe, I'm going to be seriously pissed off. Grr...

This was a good one. I found myself laughing out loud and had to put the book down for a moment until I recovered. And the word “babe” filled with so much innuendo that you start to hyperventilate…. Nice. And grandma mazur was in such fine fettle…. Seven foot Sally Sweet wearing a feather thong…. Two trips to pleasure treasures….
Such a good writer. 11.5 stars!

I highly recommend going back to the beginning of this series and starting there. I stumbled upon the stephanie plum novels halfway thru the series and wish I had found it sooner. Each addition to the series is a treat....sarcastic witty humor...a heroine that can bumble around and eat consolation donuts but still look herself in the eye in the mirror and kiss hunky mysterious guys when she and her boyfriend are on the outs. LOVE this series....

Long story short, girl works as bounty hunter to bring home the bacon for herself and her hamster....but barely pays the bills and gets shot at a lot. And her car generally only makes it thru one or two books before getting blown up. VERY FUNNY
