I remember reading this book a long time ago and I suddenly started to remember it today. I remember that it made my heart ache, and it made me cry so much. Nicholas Sparks does have a way with his stories and I am glad that I gave him a try once upon a time. The ending was extremely sad... so if you're into romances with happy endings, I don't think this book is for you. But if you're into romances with heartbreaking moments and an ending that will have your heart cry out, then you should definitely try this book out.

I'm probably going to try to re-read this one again, just for a more thorough review, so be right back with this one!

This book was an enjoyable read due to the simplicity of the plot that was focused primarily on an emotional analysis of the main characters.
We get to see both Theresa’s and Garrett’s internal problems and doubts and reveal their willingness to open themselves to love once again. Sparks did wonderful job in portraying each of them through the eyes of another. Theresa was shook to the core by Garrett’s love for his deceased wife, she admired his passion for diving and love for the ocean and was attracked to him for his strength which arised from the way of life he had chosen. Garrett, on the other hand, was instantly drawn by her beauty and confidence but later also discovered her bright intellect and loving concern.
Moreover, the sceneries and locations were beautifully described and it was easy to imagine the places by the beach in Welmington or venues in the busy Boston.
Lastly, the reason I did not give this book five stars is that I could not wrap my head around the fact that Theresa and Garrett have fallen so deeply in love after so little time spent together.

This one felt so rushed! Only a 3hr audio? Crazy. Everything did make sense though, albeit a pointless read. I cannot believe the premise for this relationship. Theresa seemed so petty. But Garret even more so! I mean, they had a 4-day relationship and basically the second day he said he loved her, even after his wife? And the way Theresa needed to be the only woman he ever thought about, and she even told him that. Saying she didn't want to compete with his dead wife, so couldn't be with him, even though they loved each other. Honestly, who does she think she is?? A bitch, that's who. Pleased this read's over.

I think it was the book by Sparks that I liked the least so far, so much suffering and grief are not my cup of tea.
=============
Creo que ha sido el libro de Sparks que menos me ha gustado hasta el momento, tanto sufrimiento y pena no son santos de mi devoción.

Most of my friends around these parts are probably wondering what the hell is wrong with me. I don't normally read such... Squishy books. I read a couple Sparks back when I was a heart sick teenager, cried my eyes out, and then moved on. Well, at some point, long long ago (inagalaxyfarfaraway), I apparently bought this book. I then proceeded to place it on my book shelf, where it remained until earlier this week. I had just finished another book, and I knew the perfect book to start next. I grabbed my next book, sat down with it… And stalled. I just wasn’t feeling it. In fact, I wasn’t feeling anything that I had previously planned to read for the next few months (I’m a planner). I needed something completely different, completely random.. And that’s when I noticed this book, alone and neglected, tucked into a corner of my “not as cool as the other books” book shelf. The pages were yellow from neglect… It needed some love. So I gave it the reading it always desired, the reading it yearned for. I read it good...

Ok, that got a little weird. For real though. This was just what I needed… It’s not a five star or even a four star, but it’s a solid three. It’s not my favorite Sparks, actually it’s my least favorite of the now four I’ve now read. I have gripes, but it fulfilled my need to change it up a little, and that’s all I asked from it.

This isn’t really a spoiler, but I’m going to mark it just in case, just to protect those who are more picky about spoilers. So Garrett? My main gripe with this book is that he was totally.. I don’t know. I realize he had lost his wife and was learning to love again and all of that.. But he was soooo clingy, it made me feel anxious just to read it. This will get a little more specific, but still not really a spoiler.. Even his memories of conversations with Catherine were creepy. Not that he was remembering her, it would be weird if he wasn’t, just the clinginess he displayed even in his own reminiscence. Don’t leave me, I’ll miss you, waaaaah…. It wasn’t a big deal, because I wasn’t looking to hit that anyway, but it did kind of hamper my ability to lose myself in the story.. A moment would start to get romantic and then he would go all cling on Theresa and it made me feel anxious and set of my *FLEE* instinct.

Other than that, this is DEFINITELY a spoiler… The ending? Sad. I didn’t expect it, though I should have. It’s been so long since I read Sparks, I forgot that it’s not usually a happy ending, all the ones I’ve read have been bittersweet. I can’t say it was a tear jerker for me, mostly because of the stuff I mentioned in the other spoiler.. But it definitely did make me whimper a little. Just a tiny one… Don’t judge me.

That’s about it. I think I’ll read a couple more Sparks to continue to cleanse my palate. Yep, just cleansing the old palate… I don’t like it at all, just gotta be done... Nothing to see here, move along now.

Letters , the thing fascinating about love letters is the marks; deep and long lasting , it leaves not only upon reader's mind but on writer's too . The pain of writing is greater even when inked with love , tender love.
I have been found of writing letters like this , though i gave a failed attempt . When i came across the name of the book, it was a perfect treat .
" note book " is the book for which author is quiet famous for. But this novel is different from typical love stories.
Single mother in mid life crisis finds a letter enclosed in a bottle at the sea. Her eagerness to find the writer leads her fall for him. She is hesitant of accepting the love , as fear of loosing fills the distance between her place (Boston) to his (Wilmington).

A must read for teenagers to have insight what it like to be "moving on" with life when someone leaves us when love is needed the most.

I feel like you can tell this is one of Nicholas Sparks’ earlier books: it’s got all his trademark moments but definitely feels less refined than what we’re used to these days. I enjoyed it all the same! Maybe I would’ve been different in the 90s too but man their dynamic annoyed me

So cute and romantic. This book only reinforces my love for Nicholas Sparks! I cried like a total baby at the ending, like I typically do for most of his books. Couldn't get enough of this one. And definitely WAY better than the movie, the movie honestly sucked. Worth the read!

The time has come for me to give up on Nicholas Sparks novels. He is a wonderful author, writing beautiful stories, but I can not get past the lack of emotional chastity that his characters have. I can not discredit his talent or the romantic charm in his work. This novel, I thought, was as predictable as it gets, until the last 70-ish pages. He knows how to twist an ending! I am a little shocked by the way it ended and I was wrapped up in it. This novel is worth the read!!!!

Theresa finds a bottle with a message in it washed up on the beach. She’s determined to find the man Garrett who wrote it. A love story begins between the 2 of them and wow! I loved this book and just didn’t want it to end. I appear to be the ONLY person who has not read this book yet with over 200,000 reviews. Loved it!
