The Notebook, by Nicholas Sparks, is one of those stories where a simple love story carries an emotional punch above the ordinary. So many people can identify with this story and surprisingly, to me at least, men are impacted by this story also. Highly recommended, even if you've seen the movie.

Love love love this book from the first page to the last. Every page my heart was beating for Noah and Allie. Their separation had a force that leaped off the page compelling me to beg for them to reunite. I didn't want to believe Allie was going to marry another man that she didn't really love. But this love story finds a way, nothing will stop true love. Highly recommend this for anyone that has ever yearned for true love. Very great read.

***** 4.5 STARS *****

I first read this book when I was about 15 so this was almost not memorable for me though I’ve watched the movie thousands of times. (Even in the middle of reading this book this time around just because I wanted to double up being all in my feels.)

This book is just.... beautiful. The way Allie and Noah’s love for each other just spills out of the pages is just magical. I feel just so grateful to be able to read their story. Letter writing really knows how to tear at my heart strings. I’m a big letter writer and just think it’s such a wonderful way to articulate the way you feel so to read about it... ugh. My heart.
The letter Allie writes Noah made me sob. My girlfriend looks over and here I am at 8pm crying on the couch into these pages that I never wanted to end. Wonderful book. I am so glad that I read this again and I know I will a lot more in the future!!

I don't know, but I think that "The Notebook" by Nicholas Sparks is a very special book..
Why is this so, you ask??

Here two reasons:

First of all the power of true, timeless and immortal love between a man and a woman is powerful unveiled and believable characters managed to nestled in the heart of the reader..
Making you to deeply care and suffer with them..

But the real magic of Sparks novel is a totally different matter, it is plainly spoken.. hope..!!
It has given me hope, hope that out there in this cold, dark and fiendish world, somebody is waiting there created for you and filled with love.. exists!!

And if you follow your heart and believe, in the end both of you will come together..
I called it God!!
You can call it destiny or whatever..
But believe and don't abandon your dreams..never!!!

Having said that, if you are in the mood for a good love story that will make you cry, then go for it!!!
And if you haven't read the reviews before, don't do it!!

Wait until you have finished your copy..

The best is indeed knowing nothing about the story, only that it is a love story..that's all!!
This is the way, I believe which will make the strongest impact on you!!

And this is the reason because I don't unveil any detail of the story..
I want that the full power of this love story overwhelm and suffocate you with strong feelings..making you laugh, making you cry, and making you wish and long for such wonder in your lifetime!!

Merry Christmas to all my goodreads friends;))

and happy reading..

Dean;)

A good quick read. I enjoyed the telling of this book. I saw the movie first and I like the ending of the movie better. I thought the ending of the book was strange and cheesy. The relationship of Noah and Ally is better in the book. This is a classic love story. Noah is the main character and falls for Ally. They have a beautiful relationship and his love is pure and deep. It is a short book and you can read it in one or two sittings. This is an enjoyable read. If you can't stand any kind of mushiness then you might look elsewhere. Noah is a poet and I love the poetry peppered throughout the book.

I truly loved this book. The story and how it is told just sucks you in from the minute you start reading. I am amazed over and over again just how much I love this book.
I no longer own this book. I lent it to a "friend" and never got it back. And I am having a hard time trying to find a replacement copy. ARGH.
This is the story of Noah and Allie. They meet as teens, but are torn apart by circumstances. As the book progresses so do their lives until the moment that Allie realizes she needs to find Noah to put things to rest before she marries a man she likes, but doesn't really love. What happens next is the crux of the novel and proves that love CAN conquer time and space and all the obstacles that others put in its way.
GREAT read. I recommend it to anyone!

As I’ve been organizing my thoughts on this book, the thing I keep coming back to is how closely the movie followed the plot of the book. Perhaps this was possible because of the book’s relatively short length, but it could very nearly have doubled for a script. The question I’ve been asking myself with each Nicholas Sparks book I’ve read is, which is better, the movie or the book? You might think it would be a hard call to make this time because of their similarities, but in this particular case, the movie was the very clear winner for me.

It’s a great story either way, but the movie is just so beautifully made and well cast. The plots are nearly identical, but the characters didn’t inspire the same level of emotion while reading as they did when I watched the film. I also think Sparks uses some strange verbiage at times which earned him a few lip curls from me. Sometimes it almost felt like I was reading a regency novel or something when he mentions character’s bosoms or loins stirring or describes a character as “aroused sexually.” Isn’t “sexually”already implied?

I read this book because my sister loved it. It made me sad. Not because it was a sad story, but because it was so poorly written.

This Sparks character had a fantastic idea for a story, a truly painful and passionate story of love and devotion. But the book? It was like my 14 year old nephew watched this brilliant movie, then tried to write about it on his myspace blog. It was butchered by an appalling lack adjectives and an appalling lack of emotion. Sad.

The fact that so many people are willing to overlook Sparks' lack of creativity and inability to, well, write, is also sad. Sad, I say.

Sorry Tracy.
