I generally avoid books that are too real to life, with tragedy, strong emotions, and bitter sweet. But I appreciate the real and intelligent characters. Especially the main character. I admire the way that she could look at the good side of situations. And I appreciate the author writing in such deep insights.

It was a nice break from the shallow Cozy books I usually listen to

I loved everything about this story except the insta-love. Had it not had that it would have been 4 1/2-5 stars.

The story captivated me from beginning to end and I thought it was very well written in a smooth, easy-(and fast)-to read format. But, I want...need...expect my romance books to have happily every afters (HEAs) and this one did not. It bothered me that Adrienne did not go on with her life, that she made decisions for herself based on the lives of her kids (that were not young) and she paid for those decisions in later years when she was left alone. Everyone is entitled to have a life of their own. She would expect that of her kids (and did) and her father (certainly) expected that of her.

What other options did she have? She was committed to her father's care; however, Paul's plans could have shifted and they could have both gone to Ecuador or waited until Mark found himself and returned... or a slew of other alternatives besides what ensued. Depressing.

Sad face from This Reader.

I read through this as part of my Sparks marathon and I liked it but it if you read the entire Sparks catalog then the stories tend to merge and you start seeing the pattern he follows in most of his books. It was nice but nothing too special.

People who don't read generally ask me my reasons for reading. Simply put I just love reading and so to that end I have made it my motto to just Keep on Reading. I love to read everything except for Self Help books but even those once in a while. I read almost all the genre but YA, Fantasy, Biographies are the most. My favorite series is, of course, Harry Potter but then there are many more books that I just adore. I have bookcases filled with books which are waiting to be read so can't stay and spend more time in this review, so remember I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.

A simple tale of two broken souls forged together by fate in order to heal their broken pasts, Nights in Rodanthe definitely surpassed my expectations, which is generally the case when it comes to Nicholas Sparks.

From the setting of the saltwater beaches of North Carolina to the beautifully crafted characters of Adrienne and Paul, this story was immaculate. I thoroughly enjoyed the visual imagery Sparks brings to life in his books, describing the salty air and the white caps on the waves to the descriptive features of each character. Seeing the movie, I was very impressed by how well the actors' cast resembled the couple described in the book. Learning about how both of these broken individuals meet during the onset of a nor'easter at this magnificent beach house/bed-and-breakfast intrigued me from the start. Visualizing their connection and fondness, watching it blossom underneath the dark clouds of an intense storm, seemed to enhance their relationship by making it, oddly, a more romantic setting. Having to endure this difficulty together and sharing their deepest regrets and hardships from their past lives with a complete stranger made their love seem encouraging and unforgettable.

While there is a bit of a sad ending, I enjoyed this book and loved learning about how true love can form in midst of the darkest storms.

First off, I'd like to offer myself as exhibit A in the case against the hypothesis that carriers of the XY gene are love story averse. Though I must admit that partly the reason for my reading this novel is Diane Lane. What can I say? Shes really pretty.

With that said, I was a little, well... disappointed with this one. I've never read a Spark's novel before but enjoyed the silver screen version of The Notebook so I was expecting something a lil more I suppose. If I could use one word to describe this book it would be juvenile. Paul and Adrienne were a couple of molly-sues and from the very beginning they were superfluously fawning. Too many moments of furtive glances and declarations of admiration. The pages were fraught with Paul and Adrienne thinking how beautiful the other was too the point were it just seemed silly. But I suppose, silliness is one of the many faces of love, most prominent when a third person is observing it.

Personally, I prefer love stories with a moderate amount of subtleties. I don't like it when authors spoon feed their readers the personality of their characters. I think it's much better when their personalities manifest themselves through action, through cause and effect and so on.

Though there were moments, particularly nearing the end, where I was mildly choked up with emotion, I wouldn't not suggest this to read but I wouldn't say its a must read either.

As usual Nicholar Sparks' style!! A blend of sentiment romance emotion and tragedy!!

The plot begins slowly, gains its pace and maintains it!! The way the romance narrated is to be appreciated!! A regular sparks' reader can easily guess what would happen!! The touch of emotion to the plot is the TM of Mr. Sparks!! The emotional bondage between the two leads and the repercussions were dealt amazingly!!

But once if u understand the writing style of Mr. Sparks', then the plot can be easily predictable but it will not be boring!! One will enjoy the warmth of the story line!!

On the whole, a good read, page turner yet it may not impress sparks' die hards!!
