My goodness! I need to revisit Nicholas Sparks. I recall more of the movie with this one, and that is not at all a good thing. I own a T-shirt that says ‘The book is better’. Get a grip, Suzanne! I again, as with a lot of my go to authors, do have more of Sparks left on my physical shelf.

First of all, this is not the type of book I normally read, but it was either this novel or choosing one written in Russian or German. My choices were limited while on the island of Zanzibar.
I recognized the authors name and his award-winning novel The Notebook. Maybe it was the movie that won all the awards, either way I knew it as what I call a 'chick flick.'
I sucked it up and started flipping pages, literally, right off the bat I found the plot sappy and the characters predictable. But I carried on, thinking I needed to broaden my reading horizons.
It may have been a bit painful at times, but one of the characters was a Great Dane who captured my attention. I guess the story was okay, but the interaction between characters and the resulting relationships reminded me of high school. Are there really that many simple-minded and gullible people out there?
I trudged on and managed to finish the book, but wasn't happy with the ending. Without spoiling it I'll leave it at that.
I'm sure many women readers will love the book. What can I say, I'm a guy.

Leave it to Nicholas Sparks to have me sobbing all over the last page of this book. Also the loyalty of a dog is unmatched

Ughhh sometimes I feel like I DNF books too easily but then I remember I can’t waste my precious reading time on books that I’m not enjoying.

I didn’t want to finish the last 40% of this book cuz the romance was just so uncomfortable to read about. It happened completely out of the blue and to me it just felt wrong. They were like siblings dating.

I still like other Nicholas Sparks books but I guess this one was just a miss :(

Nicholas Sparks takes a turn from his usual, sometimes sappy romance stories in The Guardian: still a romance, this book has a definitive thriller edge to it. I enjoyed The Guardian and think Sparks accomplished his objectives of mixing a romance with a thriller without losing sight of the relationship that was building throughout the novel.

When Julie's husband dies in his early 20s, he leaves Julie with a note and a Great Dane puppy, who she names Singer, to look after her. Four years after becoming a young widow, Julie is ready to start making good on her late husband's wish that she find someone who makes her happy. She dates a few losers, gets romanced by some seemingly charming guys, and eventually falls in love with Mike, the man who was her husband's best friend. As their romance grows, they soon realize they are fighting for their lives against a violent stalker who is dead-set on having Julie for himself.

True throughout to his guardian duties, Singer is the shining star of this novel. More human than dog, he is the only one who seems to know what's going on the whole time.

I haven't read many Sparks novels, but I hear this one breaks form quite a bit. For that, I say kudos to Sparks! Job well done.

The beginning of the book was really slow. By page 160, things started to get interesting. To me, this book was suspenseful. I had a feeling on how things would end, but I didn't know how it would get there. There were a lot of negative reviews about this book, but I actually really enjoyed it!!
This book was not 400 pages, but it was 494

First off, I loved this book. I wouldn’t necessarily call it a ‘page-turner’ (not until the very end anyways), but alas, it was still such a good solid story and I found myself sobbing by the end of it. Nicholas Sparks has a nifty way of doing that in his stories, I guess

4.5⭐️ because this one was truly so good! I didn’t even read the back of this one, so I thought this was simply a sweet little romance until about half way through when I realized this was in fact a romantic thriller. If you know me, then you know that was a nice surprise

Well, the first thing The Guardian is Dog a giant of a Great Dane. And then this time we have a psycho who goes after the character. Well like other this was also part of my Sparks marathon and yeah I liked it too but like other books not too much. Maybe someday I will read them one at a time and then they would appeal to me differently.

People who don't read generally ask me my reasons for reading. Simply put I just love reading and so to that end I have made it my motto to just Keep on Reading. I love to read everything except for Self Help books but even those once in a while. I read almost all the genre but YA, Fantasy, Biographies are the most. My favorite series is, of course, Harry Potter but then there are many more books that I just adore. I have bookcases filled with books which are waiting to be read so can't stay and spend more time in this review, so remember I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.
