Esperaba que siendo la última entrega de la saga me sorprendiera, pero no lo ha hecho, hay un par de lineas rescatables, pero esta aventura en realidad no es la mejor de los protagonistas, además de que creo que las metáforas y la temática de adolescencia no estuvieron bien manejados, de pronto Isabel me describía a un Alex completamente extraño, no estuvo bien forzar a los personajes para abarcar más' y menos cuando ya se conocen a los personajes de 2 libros atrás :(

Es ist einfach nicht so spannend wie die ersten beiden Teile, ich kann nicht genau sagen warum. Für mich hat dieses Buch aus irgendeinem Grund weniger Faszination, ich hatte nicht das Bedürfnis, es am Stück zu verschlingen^^

História de dois jovem-adolescentes que acompanham a vó de um deles numa viagem para a África. A vó é Kate Cold, uma jornalista do International Geographic.

O que guia a narrativa é a profecia de uma feiticeira que anuncia que os dois jovens estão com seus futuros entrelaçados e que devem permanecer juntos para derrotar um grande monstro de três cabeças.

O desenrolar da história começa quando os personagens principais ajudam um missionário cristão a encontrar seus colegas desaparecidos numa aldeia isolada no interior do continente africano.

O livro faz parte de uma trilogia que acompanha as aventuras místicas dessas personagens ao redor do mundo.

Achei o livro extremamente apressado e muito superficial. O discurso subjacente ao texto é extremamente ultrapassado e recai no mito do salvador branco. Os pigmeus parecem ser tratados mais como animais do que como seres humanos, alguma vezes.

A autora recorre a alguns truísmos muito cansativos e pouco interessantes, não adicionando nada de muito original. O que salva talvez seja uma bonita descrição de um plano espiritual maluco no capítulo que encontram a rainha perdida.

No fim, é um livro bom somente para aprender vocabulário em espanhol...

Acabo de terminar una trilogía que me ha acompañado por mucho tiempo y me siento satisfecha; me ha dejado vasta. Me gustó la extensa variedad de magia y lugares en los que se desarrolla la historia. En el bosque de los Pigmeos sentí emociones variadas y pienso que es la mejor manera de terminar una trilogía. Es una novela con fantasía y magia con emociones inexplicables. 5/5

Read the first two books back in 2019 so didn't have them fresh in my mind but I did enjoy this last one quite a lot. Bit sad that it's come to an end but I can always reread the series again someday!

An interesting story, but something about the writing (maybe the fact that it was translated from the original Spanish, maybe just something about Allende's style) seemed hollow. There was so much recapping of the previous two books, there was definitely no need to read them to understand this one (although having read the first one was probably an advantage). The story was short and kind of empty...I skimmed a lot and kept waiting for the main crisis to unfold or for something to be revealed. It gets more dramatic near the end, but so much of the rest of it seems to drag, like she didn't realize that this was going to be a pretty short book and she'd have to make every page count.

I was a little disappointed in how cliched the ending was, too. Like, "Oh, look, jungle girl grew up and she's pretty!" and "Hey, the books you just read are the grandmother's record of the boy's journals!! Hah, get it?" aaand "Jungle girl and boy-who's-a-doctor-because-of-his-mom's-battle-with-cancer will most likely get married but that story's not interesting because the most interesting parts of their life already happened...in those books...which you read...which are a part of this epilogue. *nudge nudge*" Disappointing. But also weirdly satisfying.

I didn't know this was part of a series so haven't read the first two, but this one was atrocious. The story is ultimately about privileged foreigners 'saving' Africans and is full of stereotypes.
