Okay I genuinely LOVED this. Did not expect to laugh (and cry) in just the first volume! The characters are so fun and the mixing of the regular world with that of Soul Reapers & Hollows is so well done. I feel like I could read a billion more volumes off of the strength of this first volume alone.
Okay, I really liked this and all, but now freaking way am I reading all 600+ and counting chapters of this. So, I read till as much as I could take at once (chapter 137). Maybe I'll continue this in the future *shrug*
Not much to say, actually. The concept is not something I'm completely unfamiliar of and the characters were pretty good. I liked Ichigo and his band of friends, and I liked the humor they created together.
OMG?! This will be another weekly release just like The Seven Deadly Sins. This will be an even longer journey because there are 74 volumes in total, so 74 weeks.
What to say about this one if not that I absolutely loved it? The art is amazing, the story so far is amazing and I loved all the characters and different situations that were created.
The idea is pure genious and since the very first chapter I got hooked and read it in one sitting only all together. I can't wait to have in my hands V2 next week!
as much as i used to love bleach it should have ended after the captian aizen arc. now its repeating the same bullshit plot bit doing a terrible job at it. ichigo being the main character havent shown up or done anything useful in a while and his band of highschooler are so weak they are only added for the nastagia. chad and orihime havent gotten stronger since rhe espada arc. his other friends are useless. and ishida is now evil but u wont find till they hit 400 more chapters. grimjow is back but havent done anything for a while. bad guys get useless fashbacks for more filler content. what haapen to ichigos progression? the bad ass action scenes. that awesome rivalry like ichigo vs grimjow? kenpachi being a badass instead of getting his ass kicked all the time. and since when did ichigo kill? he sure kill that guy who tried to steal his powers back inthe real world. this manga i used to love sucks now!
Placeholder for reading the entire series back in 2016.
I hate this manga so much. I think it had a lot of promise during the first big arc, but it loses it almost immediately by being bloated, repetitive, almost zero character growth, and just plain badly drawn at times. The only noteworthy thing about this series is the swords' powers, but is looking at cool powers and nothing more worth it? For some, the answer is yes, but I want a stronger story rather than Ichigo stumbling from one disaster to another without little else.
I might get some hate for this but whatever. I don't get the appeal of this manga at all. It felt boring and generic. And, I did not like the characters. For me, to get invested in a story I have to like the characters. If not, you can forget it.
The plot itself is very basic. Teenager sees this monster and a soul reaper and then when the soul reaper is in danger the teen replaces her. A soul reaper is someone who destroys these ghost monsters called hollows. These monsters were once human but then died and their soul became bad or something idk.
Usually, I'm fine with simple plots, as long as there done well. But, for some reason this just didn't work for me. I think the characters are a problem for me, but I don't think that's the whole problem. Or maybe, I'm just in a bad mood this week, because this is the second time this week I haven't liked a book that practically everyone else did. (cough cough Batman: Hush) I feel left out lol.
I love this manga already!! I'm watching the Anime at the same time but damn this is good. I love it and Ichigo is amazing and who doesn't like his personality xD<3<3
Rukia is pretty funny too and I also like Chad and Orihime is pretty cool too ^^<3
I first watched the anime version of Bleach a while ago and dropped it after a few episodes due to finding it quite boring, but the manga has me hooked and it managed to do so in the first few pages. Ichigo and Rukia are both really funny and are the perfect duo, I also think that orehime is funny in a cute way due to her clumsiness, it also tugged at my heart strings to see that her brother had turned into a Hollow and thought that she had forgotten about him entirely after meeting Ichigo and Tatsuki.
Over all I’d give this a 9.4 out of 10, I have high expectations for the 2nd issue.
I picked up a copy of Bleach after watching a couple of episodes of the anime. Although a fun read, for me this is one of those cases where I prefer the anime versus the book version (or manga if you want to be specific). For me, it all comes down to pacing and what you prefer. If you're into a crazy over the top and try to keep up pace, the manga is for you. I think the anime paces things out a bit better and I think it's basically the difference between manga and anime in terms of delivering the story. The artwork was pretty stellar though some panels were a bit tricky to follow and found myself double checking just to make sure I'd gotten the sequence right (and no, it wasn't the manga format, it was down to again, pacing).
The story is pretty interesting, an entire family has the ability to perceive ghosts to different degrees and Ichigo, a ginger haired teen has the most honed ability... an understatement since he can full on interact with ghosts. This gift is the type that keeps giving, especially when referring to trouble, of which he receives a plenty. Having come into contact with countless ghosts, he was a bit surprised to discover the existence of Soul Reapers by meeting Rukia, a member of the Soul Society and herself a Soul Reaper. Long story short (so as not to offer spoilers), Ichigo becomes himself a soul reaper and this first volume deals with him coming to terms with his responsibilities and the complications that come about from being a soul reaper.
A fun whacky read, give it a browse to make sure you like how the story flows and if you feel it a bit too jumpy, definitely check out the anime, which I highly recommend.
I’ve seen about 3 seasons of Bleach and I really enjoyed it (cant remember why I stopped watching tho) and so I remember most of what happens up the that point but it’ll be nice to not have to sit through like hours of filler
