The talking cat turns into a naked woman. Of course. Should have seen it coming, what was I thinking?

Also, they are executing someone for having her powers unintentionally stolen, and yet they let another guy use other Reapers as grenades? Odd.

Bleach, Vol. 14 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next eight chapters (116–123) of the on-going manga series.

Ichigo Kurosaki awakens after his fight with Kenpachi Zaraki and learns that Yoruichi Shihōin is actually a woman. Meanwhile, confronted by Byakuya Kuchiki when he arrived to the prison Ganju Shiba faces the Soul Reaper captain and almost got killed as Jūshirō Ukitake, the Captain of Squad Thirteen and Rukia Kuchiki's superior, intervened. Though Ichigo arrives to face Byakuya, Yoruichi knocks Ichigo out and spirits him away. After Ichigo regains consciousness, Yoruichi tells him that she will train him to use his zanpakutō's bankai state.

Meanwhile, on their way to Rukia, Orihime Inoue and Uryū Ishida are attacked by Squad 12's Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi. A depraved scientist willing to sacrifice his own men, Mayuri reveals that he has experimented on many other Quincies, including Uryū's grandfather Sōken Ishida whose death he was indirectly responsible for.

This tankobon is written and illustrated by Tite Kubo. The incursion into the Seireitei to save Rukia Kuchiki continues. It is interesting to see the narration return to the Orihime Inoue and Uryū Ishida and to see what happened to them while Ichigo Kurosaki and his invasion group as they get closer to Rukia Kuchiki. Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi is an interesting creepy character who has connection to Uryū as his grandfather was experimented on by Kurotsuchi.

All in all, Bleach, Vol. 14 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems intriguing and I cannot wait to read more.

I liked this volume a little bit less than the last ones, but damn! The ending really makes up for it. I can’t wait to red the next volume for real!

I truly enjoy this series. The action and characters are engaging, and the scope of the story is exponential. It is a great and fast-paced read.

I am a little bored with the "fight-get hurt-recover-fight again but stronger" scheme, but I still enjoy the series!

Bleach Volume 14 continues the thrilling saga of Ichigo Kurosaki and his companions as they venture deeper into the Soul Society, determined to rescue Rukia Kuchiki from her impending execution. This volume is a solid addition to the series, delivering an enjoyable mix of intense action, character development, and gripping storytelling.

Tite Kubo does an excellent job of balancing the high-stakes battles with moments that further develop the characters' relationships and motivations. In this volume, we see Ichigo growing stronger and more determined, revealing a side of him that is not just about raw power but also about his deep sense of loyalty and justice.

The tension between the members of the Soul Society is palpable, and the internal conflicts among them are just as compelling as the external battles. The dynamic between Renji and Byakuya, for instance, adds a layer of intrigue to the plot, while characters like Ganju and Hanataro provide comic relief and a different perspective on the world of the Soul Reapers.

Overall, Bleach Volume 14 is an engaging and enjoyable entry in the series. It propels the story forward. With its great pacing, memorable characters, and an ever-developing plot, this volume proves why Bleach remains a staple in the world of shonen manga.

4 stars.

I can't believe that I forgot what that creepy 11th captain did to Uryu's grandfather! And finding out that he told the soul reapers to get there late when the grandfather was being attacked... damn
