Exceleltn book. It has most of Kahlils work in it and great pieces of his literature to read. I often go back to this book for comfort and thought. It is very thought provoking.
I read this book in bits a pieces over several months - more as an exercise in literacy than anything else. There was a lot of wisdom in it, of course, but it was hard reading.

Poems are nice to read, especially the ones describing the seasons passing in his native Lebanon. But his social commentary after the first hundred pages begins to be very predictable, with the stories almost writing themselves.
hard to pick out a more moving book, it covers all emotions and senses eloquently. Provokes deep thought as well as laughter, fills ones heart in many ways. A true classic, for all time.
Sometimes he is a bit too soft for my tastes, even sentimental - dare I say predictable and generic - with his poems and prayers and meditations. There can be a formula in this sort of writing too. Nevertheless, there is enough here that is good so that every reader will find something that touches them. And there are millions who find everything he has written worthwhile.
