This book is hard not to compare to John Grisham, and highlights how Grisham can really tell a compelling story. This was well written, but to me the courtroom drama was not very exciting or unique-I felt like it was a somewhat generic murder one mystery and evidence on either side wasn't very good. It kept my interest to the end to see what happened, but it was the intrigue of knowing rather than the actual tale that kept me going.

You can't beat a pro. MADRiANI at his best.

Couldn't put this one down,a trial you would love to be part of. The beautiful unfaithful wife, the Atty. who had a brief affair with the boss 's wife
And lost his happy life and the beauty charged
With murder and the ins and outs of a great trial
And the surprise ending, you will want to read it for yourself, I think you will agree it's a good one from a great writer!!!!!you

First time reading this author and not really impressed. I didn't really care much about the story until about 175 pages. He doesn't develop characters very well and had a bad habit of switching between a characters first and last names. It was already hard enough to keep then straight without calling each by two names. The twist literally came out of nowhere and after all the effort of reading so much, I was disappointed by how quickly it was wrapped up. Literally, in one chapter, you learned who done it and then THE END. I'll give the author one more try, fingers crossed.

Bravo! A good fast read! now i am hooked. This was such a great, easy and creative book. i was hooked after the first page.

The characters were easy to fall in love with and follow, along with the story. the author made the mental visions so easy and vivid of the surroundings and the characters actions felt so real.

i would highly recommend this author and this book.

In this legal thriller, we see the system through the protagonist's eyes, experiencing not only the court room positioning and drama, but also the weaving in of his personal life, and vivid and detailed descriptions of characters, venues, and subterfuge.
Looking forward to see how this series progresses.

great legal thriller

I picked up this book from a bookbub deal, glad I did. Great writing with an unexpected twist at the end. I was in the mood for a riveting page turner and I wasn’t disappointed.
Time to start with book 1. And maybe watch one of his mini series too. Highly recommend!

I had a hard time getting into this book at first, with all the legal lingo I didn't know, but once someone died it got more interesting and then I didn't want to put it down. Too bad you still have to do adult stuff and not just sit around and read all day. I did end up finding a spot to hide so I could finish the last quarter of the book without being disturbed. It was better than I expected and I was surprised by the ending.

Please don't ever again make me read the words: "making a face like." Other than the very overused "making a face" stuff, I really enjoyed the book.

How disappointing.

There was no action, no drama that kept you on the edge of your seat. No real mystery (ok there was a murder in which somebody was falsely accused but it wasn't even all that interesting). Just nothing of real substance here except a Perry Mason like courtroom story with a very minor (but disappointing) twist at the end.

I struggled to finish this book as it just couldn't capture my attention. First of all it's a first person perspective story. I hate first person perspective stories. Why are there so many of them? Is it really that hard to write a story in third person? Ok, that's just my pet peeve. But the plot moved at a glacial pace. It took forever to develop anything. And then as the story starts reaching it's climax and the author leads the reader down a path that is almost certainly leading to the real murderer it just kind of fizzles. I was absolutely sure there would be some high drama or better yet some action with the murderer that would ultimately prove the falsely accused's innocence.

But it all just fell flat and fizzled.

In the end Compelling Evidence was not a compelling read.

Paul Madriani finds himself defending his ex-partner's wife with kind of a twisting tale. He was kicked out of the firm for sleeping with said wife so that did make it interesting from the get-go. I liked this book, but found that it was so intent of trying to spin possibilities of who did the deed, that it kind of missed the mark on some of what the book was supposed to be. A solid read and an interesting start to this series. I do like Paul Madriani's character and have read several other books in this series.

Solid courtroom give and take, a bit thin as far as the characters go.
