This novel had its faults and it may not deserve 5 stars. It was too repetitious and had too many uninteresting details (especially at the beginning). In addition, the defendant was so unsympathetic that at times I almost didn’t care if she was convicted, guilty or not.

But. I enjoy legal thrillers and the numerous courtroom scenes and legal maneuverings were engrossing, at least to me.

I really enjoyed this book. This is the 1st book that I have read from this author, and it had lot of twists and turns. If you like a lot of courtroom drama, this is good. This is the first in a series for a young lawyer, I will definitely read the next one. I have read a Scott Turow (one of my favs) and this, so I have my satisfied my legal itch. Now, I need to finish A Little Life, which I like but I have been distracted.

It REALLY did not grab me. I like court room dramas, but this one fell flat. I didn’t care about any of the people, so by extension I didn’t care about the trial.

There was no suspense during the jury’s deliberation; I won’t tell you what their verdict was, but you can guess I didn’t care either way!
