About the author

Molly Hatchet is an American Southern rock/hard rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1975. They are best known for their hit song "Flirtin' with Disaster" from the album of the same title. The band, founded by Dave Hlubek and Steve Holland, took its name from a prostitute who allegedly mutilated and decapitated her clients. Most of Molly Hatchet album covers feature heroic fantasy inspired art, some of which were painted by artists Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallejo and Paul R. Gregory.

Good mostly accurate & complete tab. I wish they did Dreams and Big Apple!

This book is out of print now, but you can buy these 5 songs on "sheet music direct dot com" for digital download for $3 per song. Get 'em while you can. The quality of the tabs on this book are the best you'll find for any Molly Hatchet songs, and show ALL the parts.

I see some clowns are trying to sell these for hundreds of dollars. That is crazy and I don't feel they are worth that, especially since you can still get the digital downloads of the exact same tabs. But a collector *might* want the book and be willing to pay more. This book isn't all that rare though. There are quite a few copies out there still.

Other resources for Molly Hatchet tabs:
1) There is a Cherry lane tab book from 1983 just titled "Molly Hatchet" that has 30 songs from their first 5 albums. It's not all the songs, but it is several from each album. It is out of print and selling in the $100 range on ebay and amazon, and not a lot of copies out there for sale - just a couple from what I've seen. The quality of the tabs is not great - I have a copy. Solos are incomplete on the songs I looked at, and fingerings are clearly not accurate to how they played them. But it's a good starting point and has most of their best songs.
2) The album "lightning strikes twice" (it didn't), there is guitar tab book for the whole album currently for sale on ebay for about $25. A couple copies. I see a few on amazon too.
3) Digital downloads on sheet music plus or sheetmusic direct dot com of the "5 of the best" songs. These typically cost from $2-$5 per song.
4) Bootleg DVD's with sheet music on ebay. I can't comment on the quality of those but there a few out there.
5) Songsterr has several Molly Hatchet songs in tab with multiple guitar parts. The ones I looked at offered a good to excellent start on the songs, and the various parts are separated out which is nice. Free, or with a paid subscription you can print, and do other modifications like speed controlled playback of the midi. These also usually include the drum and bass tabs, so it's a great source for bands trying to cover these tunes.

Just wish it also contained "Beatin' the Odds", "Bloody Reunion", "Boogie No More",
"Dreams I'll Never See", "Edge of Sundown", and "Fall of the Peacemakers".

As with all properly transcribed tablature, a three-year old with a broken hand could make a decent fist of playing almost any guitar-driven song.  This is no different, and I must say I was slightly surprised at how easy these classic Molly songs were to learn (it`s all relative of course, but I`ve been trying to play Satriani and Van Halen for a few years).  The songs are "Whiskey Man", "Bounty Hunter", "Gator Country", "Flirtin` With Disaster" and "Beatin` The Odds".  A good selection, but I`d have paid another fiver at least for a full transcription of "Boogie No More" and "Fall Of The Peacemakers"!  That`s the only reason I give 4 instead of 5 - it`s faultless regarding what it offers, including all the lyrics, but why not go the extra mile and make it 7 of the best?  The book`s only 50-odd pages!
