This is my 2nd Margaret Truman book. I didn't realize they were a series. It's interesting because there are recurring characters and they are central to the main plot but at the same time not really (I know that makes no sense). They are always involved somehow it seems but the story and new characters could really stand on their own if necessary. To be honest I was suprised when the recurring characters were introduced 1/3 of the way through the book.

I'm enjoying Margaret Truman. She's not as fast paced as say Harlan Coben or Patricia Cornwell but her mysteries are solid. I did unfortunately figure out "who done it" prior to the end of the book though.

The descriptions of Washington, D.C. were great. The electricity of the town was aptly portrayed. There were a couple of places, however, that the author seemed to "fit" in place description in an attempt to create mood. However, the method didn't fit in with the voice used in her writing to that point. It was more of a distraction than an aid. The plot was acceptable though not outstanding.

Margret Truman adds interesting historical facts about Washington D.C. to her murder mysterys while spinning a good tale with suspense and usually a surprise ending. All of her books target a specific locaation as Murder in the Oval Office, Murder in the Library of Congress and of course this one takes place in Ford's Theatre

Her main character former criminal attorney Mac Smith, who is now a Professor of Law at Georgetown University offering a course on Abraham Lincoln, the attorney which gives more opportunities to include facts on President Lincoln.

A Senator's young intern is murdered outside the famous Ford's Theater. There's a lot of history contained in her books which is appealing to me. I enjoyed this book and it has inspired me to hit a used book store to get the older books in the series that my library does not carry.

Okay book. Gives a lot of history of Ford's Theatre and Abraham Lincoln's assassination. Also covers things about John Wilkes Booth and how he carried out the assassination that I didn't know. Probably better for history than mystery.

good read

A lot of misdirection, but very predictable. if you follow the money, its obvious early on who is guil of murder

Listened to audio book. Spot-on descriptions of characters that fall into classic archetypes. Full of rich detail on the Washington and arts milieu, with a clever weaving-in of Lincoln trivia. The story itself is serviceable.

Fast read (although it took me a few days!)- kinda fun because of the references to all the local places in Washington, DC. Dated (characters just started using cell phones! but that happens with any book written in the "present"). A basic who-dunnit; nothing overly dramatic or challenging but a good beach read if you like mysteries.

A so so mystery, one of this author's "Capital Crimes" series. I am not a big mystery fan, but I like the Sherlock Holmes stories by Doyle...and Tony Hillerman with his mysteries set in the American Southwest....and a few others....

A good one

Very little politics in this one, but it does give a lot of interesting details about Abraham Lincoln. The big question, who killed the intern? This story has a couple of twists.
