Another interesting crime solved by the D.C. couple of numerous books by Truman. Since this murder was at Ford's Theatre, there was a lot of history as well as theatrical info. Other than the crime solvers, the characters were not sympathetic at all.
When the body of Nadia Zarinski who worked for a senator is found behind Ford's Theatre, two mismatched cops, Rick Klayman and Moses "Mo" Johnson, catch the case. Ms Turman scores a hit once again.
4.5 Mac Smith comes to the aid of an old friend when her son is jailed for the murder of an intern that worked for her ex-husband. Nadia's body was found outside in the back alley behind Ford's Theatre. Mo Johnson & Rick Klayman are the detectives on the case. Jeremiah is suspected and arrested because he dated Nadia (as did most everyone else) and his shoe print was found at the murder scene. There are many suspects in this story - any one of whom could have killed her with good reason. I fingered the murderer quickly, but enjoyed reading the story and the twists and turns. I do like Mac & Annabel Smith.
With the setting of the famed Ford's Theatre in Washington, this book draws on some of the seedy characters of the back streets and night people of the city. In it we have a mixture of murder, sex, drugs, American history, politicians, and scandal. A delightful mixture that you never know will pop up next.
I enjoy Truman's work; she knows the geography of the District. She knows the restaurants and always spins a good mystery. Her characters are well developed and believable. ...just fun to read!
This was great! A friend suggested I try her work as I am turning into a real mystery lover. Ms. Truman shows you the underbelly of DC and yet you really want to see the places she has mentioned. I can't wait for a change to go to the Ford Theatre.
