Jumping into Adams’ beloved sci-fi saga, I was aware that it was a humorous odyssey involving a guide to space and it really is way more different than anything I’ve read in the sci-fi genre.

The first volume of the same name follows Arthur Dent who is saved by his friend, a researcher for a galaxy guide, after Earth is destroyed to clear space for a galaxy freeway. Thus begins a screwy adventure through space that includes a brainwave fish, a depressed robot and a very rich planet that all connect to Earth. Arthur’s story slowly stretches into five novels (and a short character prequel) that’ll see him on other planets, meet many more otherworldly people and get into plenty of intergalactic madness.

“TUHGTTG” has so such wittiness and adventure that it’s definitely out of this world. My favorite thing about it is obviously it’s strange blend of sci-fi and humor that’s practically on every page. Arthur’s story is truly all over the place that you might have to slow down a bit and it does get a bit dark and shabby around the fifth book. My trip through the “Galaxy” was still a great one and I can’t wait to explore it again. A- (91%/Excellent)

My rating for Book 1 was a resounding 5 stars. Things got much worse from there, but I would still recommend people read the first book because it is so good. In fact, it is the only book that I would recommend. Someday I'll tell my children, "Just read Book 1 even if you feel like the story doesn't have a definitive conclusion. Reading the next four books in the series doesn't give the story a conclusion anyway, so save yourself some time."

The first book is so strong that I'll give this collection a 3-star rating even though I hope to never read four of the books in this collection again.

Now that I have finished the 5 books in the “Hitchhiker's” series (written by Douglas Adams), here is how I would rank them (from best to worst):

Šta da kažem o jednoj od meni najdražih knjiga? Urnebesna… Artur Dent misli da je njegov najveći problem bager, koji planira da mu sruši kuću, radi izgradnje obilaznice. Ne zna da vogonska flota upravo planira da razori celu Zemlju radi izgradnje svemirske zaobilaznice. Artur će se, u društvo neobičnog (što ne čudi, jer je došao Betelgeza pet) Forda Prefekta, naći u beskrajnom svemiru gde će proći kroz brojne neobične situacije.
Univerzum u nevolji, je pisan pod velikim uticajem Vodiča. Preporuka do kraja Vaseljene i nazad…

"Paniğe kapılmayın" çünkü elinizdeki kitap dünyanın en eğlenceli ve en ince mizahına sahip kitabıdır.

Bu tedirgin, boğucu ve belirsiz zaman diliminde okunabilecek en iyi kitaplardan biri kuşkusuz. Şahsımca bir kitaptan daha da öte.. Belki edebi bir tadı yok ama bunun dışında içinde her şey ama her şey var!

Evrene dair bildiklerimiz ve bilebileceklerimiz; birbirinden absürt kurgu ve karikatürize karakterlerle ve bu absürtlüğü sayesinde insanı içine çeken öyle bir anlatımla harmanlanmış ki hayran kalmamak elde değil. Kahkahalar ata ata, bazen sadece içten içe kikirdeye kikirdeye, bazen de tabiri caizse varoluşun hiçliğinin komiği bundan daha güzel nasıl çıkarilabilir diye düşüne düşüne bir bakmışsınız bitmiş.. Hacimli bir kitap olmasına karşın hiç bitmese, sonsuza kadar devam etse keşke denilen o nadir kitaplardan. Tıpkı minicik beyinlerimizle kendimizce algıladığımız evren gibi..

Douglas Adams'ın ölümünden sonra bilgisayarından çıkan taslaklarla derlenen Galakside Son Bir Kez Otostop Çekmek -Kuşkucu Somon bu beşli kadar iyi midir bilmiyorum ama kesinlikle okuyacağım, alındı listeye.

Son olarak zaman, evren, varoluş, farklı boyutlar gibi kavramlar ile ilgiliyseniz size bu mevzularda yazılmış çizilmiş şeylerin birçoğundan bambaşka yerlerden dokunuyor.. Daha karikatür, daha dünyalı daha lineer bir yerden :) Kıssadan hisse Italo Calvino'nun Bütün Kozmokomik Öyküler'inden sonra hayatımda okuduğum, Kozmos'a dair en iyi kitaplardan biriydi.

Muhtemelen çoğu ayrıntısını hatırlamamakla beraber; okurken aldığım tadı, bıraktığı düşünsel tatmini, attığım kahkahaları asla unutmayacağım.

Never liked this one. Had some interesting and funny parts, but it is a No from me.

Basically, the Hitchhiker series is the equivalent of Douglas Adams using some sort of godless magic to conjure pure unconcentrated "Funny" into the form of a hideous, many-spiked, eight ton iron mace, which he then proceeds to viciously and remorselessly beat you with for several hours or until you give him your package of store bought cookies, which he believes are his because you both bought the same brand and happen to be sitting at the same table that day, but his are unwittingly hidden underneath his newspaper and so he's assumed you've stolen them.

That's why I've taken to reading this compilation by flipping to a random page and only reading a chapter at a time. "HG to the G" is like a well crafted roux - on its own it's much too potent to eat, but as a sauce spread thinly upon your otherwise dull and eventless day, it is delicious.

Wow. By far my least enjoyed books of this year.
To sum it up:
-Though it was science fiction and had some interesting details, those details often went off on tangents, leaving me confused and constantly wondering what was going on.
- The author's delivery, in my opinion, was pretty poorly done. Everything was in a jumble, and I would have appreciated the information given more if it was delivered in a simple, composed way.
- Hitting upon the first note, it seemed as though the book did not stay on one event or character for a while, except in the beginning, where the spent a fair amount of time introducing the main characters.
Overall, I would not recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick read, or science fiction, for that matter.

Otostopçunun Galaksi Rehberi, bana göre, bizim kendimizi pek dahil hissetmeyeceğimiz bir evrende aptallığın ve saçmalığın hakim olduğu bir tesadüfler silsilesi etrafında şekilleniyor. Bu evren bir absürt komedi için bile çok saçma, ama ahmaklık tüm karakterlerin ortak noktası ve bu o kadar tanıdık ki, hayata bakışımızdaki ciddiyet perdesini biraz olsun aralıyor.

Douglas Adams kıvrak zekasını sonuna kadar kullanıyor. Okuyucuyu ters köşeye yatırmayı seviyor. Esprilerde yaptığı beklenmedik vurucu tespitlerle kalmıyor, her noktada bilim kurgunun sahip olduğu imkanları kullanmaktan çekinmiyor. Ama ne yaparsa yapsın sıradan olanın dışına çıkma konusunda müthiş başarılı. Örneğin zeki bir bilgisayara kişilik verdiğimizde ortaya Marvin çıkıyor ya da bir restorandaki hesap çözme probleminin yarattığı belirsizlik bistromatik seyir sistemi gibi icada dönüşüyor.

Beş kitabı bir arada okumak süreklilik anlamında iyi oluyor çünkü hiç beklenmedik noktalarda geriye referanslar görebiliyorsunuz. Öte yandan kitapların temposu epey farklı. Zaman zaman sıkıcı gelse de devam edin çünkü hiç bir alt hikayede oyalanmıyor yazar.

Douglas Adams is either the craziest, most creative and funniest author I've ever read, or he's just on crack.
Or maybe it's a little of both.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and the books that follow it are all completely insane and impossible to summarize, so I'm not even going to try. They're books that can't be taken too seriously, so just sit back, relax, and enjoy the portrait of insanity Adams so expertly paints.

Prilično sam sigurna da je ovo, za sada, jedina knjiga prilikom čijeg čitanja sam morala da napravim nekoliko meseci pauze zarad vlastitog dobra, što se ispostavio kao dobar potez.

Apsurd kojim ovih pet priča obiluje je inicijator fantastičnog humora i u više navrata sam se nasmejala glasnije nego što bih smela da priznam. Takođe, ne mogu a da se ne sažalim na sirotog Artura Denta koji mi je momentalno prirastao srcu uz još sirotijeg Marvina. Razlog za pomenutu pauzu tokom čitanja leži u neverovatnom broju obrta u pričama koji se za trenutak graniči sa besmislom i predstavlja noćnu moru bilo kome sa iole slabijom koncentracijom.

Sa druge strane, ni sama nisam bila svesna odličnih fazona koji su u opštoj upotrebi godinama unazad, a za koje nisam imala pojma da potiču baš iz Autostoperskog vodiča kroz galaksiju. Prema prvoj priči je snimljen i film, pa ko voli, nek' izvoli :) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0371724/
