This book challenges the mind. It's complicated. It's weird. It's strange. It's philosophical.
I read it years ago when it first came out and I was much younger. I remember not understanding it. So, now that I'm older I was able to absorb more of it. I'm looking forward to reading the other two books. Currently hubby is on the second, The Lazarus Effect, so I'm going to have to wait my turn.
Weird AF, but not surprising coming from Frank Herbert. It wasn't as good as destination void. But still a gem, if not an odd one. I enjoyed Bill Ransom's flair, made Herbert a bit easier to read. Will definitely continue the series
——- 9/15/21—Got here through a review of Dune and then a scan of the author’s books and am very intrigued by Kelly H Maybedog’s review. Their favorite book and wished to write a thesis or dissertation on it. Loves studying religion but can’t believe in anything. Ironically, I just voiced to Mom today (first time aloud ever?) that if I ever did a thesis/dissertation I’d be interested in exploring Christian themes in SFF. So this felt apropos. Hopefully I can find a copy someday and not hate it.
