...in which three actors perform all the Bard's plays and nod to the sonnets in two hours. I still think they missed out Cymbeline.

Classics are usually hard to understand for ESL readers, but this edition seemed fairly easy to me.

I was recently reminded of my first exposure to this book - reading it out loud in Barnes and Noble with two friends about a decade ago. It is so hysterically funny. My copy mysteriously disappeared, which makes me sad.

I adore this book. I have directed it twice & assisted with it in a high school setting. It is a brilliant representation of Shakespeare's works done in a witty and comical medium with a quite a few lessons scattered in; as well as a delightful arrangement of fifth.

My one complaint on this work is the continuance of upgrades...yes, all of the pop culture references are best when updated, however, many of the changes have left wit behind and invited in slapstick. A little slapstick is very welcome, but the most recent version of this book has left out some of the most clever jokes and added in forced humor.

...but I still love it.

I've seen two productions by the RSC, but not this, their original show - "The Complete History of America (Abridged)" and "All The Great Books (Abridged)." I had high expectations for the script of the play that started it all, and I was not disappointed. The footnotes, in particular, were hilarious - references to Romeo being gay, assertions that "Hamlet" is really all about meat, the way they skipped from 187 to 1188... Hysterical. I did wish they spent a little more time on my favorite of Shakespeare's tragedies, MacBeth - oh, no! I said the name! I'm cursed!

Wait. I'm not scared. MacBethMacBethMacBeth.

Seriously, this was one of the funniest things I've read in a long time, and the live productions are THE funniest thing I've seen, well, ever... and that includes the Shenandoah Shakespeare Express productions that I used to groupie (is that a verb? well, it is now) in high school. Sorry, Matt, if you're out there. Actually, if you are, give a shout - are you still afraid of cheese?

Disclaimer: I was (still am) a major drama dork.

This was a real side-splitter -- I found myself laughing maniacally every couple of pages. It would be even funnier to see this performed. I plan to buy the DVD and also read the Reduced Shakespeare Company's other plays. Highly recommended!

I was a backstage manager for a production of this play so I'll count it as read since I knew everyone's lines by heart. This is, in short, hilarious. The takes on Shakespear's plays had me crying when I first heard their lines. It's wonderful, I definitely recommend reading (or watching) it.

Genuinely one of the funniest scripts I’ve ever read! At times, the humor felt very boyish which is why I took a star off, but I really loved a lot of aspects of it. Audience interaction is hilarious and the characters are so loveable

Well what can I say? Shakespeare is, for me anyway, THE play-write, THE English writer. I can sit and simply read almost any play by him. I have favourites, of course, and they would be:

1. Hamlet
2. Macbeth
3. The Tempest
4. Julius Caesar
5. A Midsummer Nights Dream ...

... they are my top 5 anyway.
