I just read the Vietnamese translation of this book. I heard about Abraham Lincoln through his famous quotes and speeches, that brought me to the book. This book is clearly a pretty good book. However I expected more his speech, the power of words he chosen, not the civil war or the way he operated it. I admire the way his put words together and I think i have to try another book about AB
Abraham Lincoln is my favorite character in history, my favorite president, and I have read this book at least 5 times! I recommend it completely! However if there was just one example I could give, and have learned from President Lincoln, it would be his ability to think things through, not jump in and say things he'd regret, and to get things off his chest by writing down what he might have wanted to say, then destroy the letter, and thus be able to use this as a cathartic catharsis so he would only say the things that would help the situation! No spoiler by me... you'll have to read it to see who he did this with in history and whether it worked! This is a phenomenal book and Donald Phillips gets my "thank you ' for this wonderful book about Lincoln!
Well, in my professional opinion, I believe that this was a terrible piece of literature. While reading it, my mind kept wandering. The words and phrases used in this book are very monotonous and make it difficult to concentrate on. I have only one motive for reading this book: I have an assessment to complete for my literacy grade in English class.
