An important book on leadership bringing all the popular theories on leadership in one volume. The chapters on ethics and culture are added attractions. The case studies are helpful to apply what the reader has assimilated from reading each chapter. A must read for all practicing managers and management students as well.

Excellent textbook on the different types/approaches of leadership. It goes over the pros/cons of each style and includes real-life case studies of leaders. I really enjoy the self-assessments in the Application sections!

I loved my class on Leadership taught by the amazing Dr. Jamil Johnson at UNLV. This was our text. It introduces readers to all forms of leadership, with exercises to understand where readers fit in to each. Extremely comprehensive and very useful.

Rhis book is for leadership geeks (like me) who want to understand the basis of leadership practices touted by leadership gurus and whether those practices are wnpirically validated. I read the 7th edition. I was disappointed in the gender in leadership and cukture in leadership chaotwrs. However, I found the rest of the materials enlightening.

I’m not actually done with this book—I have to read it all semester for a class. Leadership theory makes pretty little sense to me—it’s a practical skill that gets better when you are intentional about practicing it. However, there are some helpful things in this book. AND the chapter on inclusive leadership is inadequate at best; unethical and offensive at worst.

A well researched and solid foundational text on leadership styles and descriptions. This is basically a textbook on leadership that is perhaps too theoretical than applicable. Although the several case studies help, I feel they are reverse engineered, with a specific leadership style in mind. Really world situations are less clear.

Good for a textbook, but not quite my cup of tea.

Clear and easy to understand examples of leadership approaches and ethics. Each approach has a questionnaire at the end of the chapter to help you assess what improvements you can make to be a more effective leader. I rented a copy for a Leadership Dynamics class, but will be buying a copy for reference.

Organized and quite easy to follow. Probably wouldn't have read it if it wasn't on the syllabus though.
