That was, unfortunately, many years ago. I went on to read the entire Riftwar series because of it. I think there were 3 books in total, from Silverthorn to a Darkness at Sethanon if memory recalls correctly.

As for characters, I really did love Thomas and Marcos the black. Thomas was a heroic and noble character, and Marcos the black had a mysterious and powerful allure.

Saying all that, I do feel there was a bit too much politics in the book at times. It could get a bit confusing and detract from the overall adventure. However, besides that, the story is a comfortable read that really sucks you in. The world-building is rich and detailed, and the characters are well-developed and engaging. It's a great series for anyone who loves fantasy and adventure.
