Okay so first of all, this was a great re-read for me. I truly love Daine! She is such an amazing character.

Of all the powers in the Tortall Universe, I have to say that I love Daine's the most. The fact that she can communicate with animals is just so fascinating. It adds a whole new dimension to the story and makes her interactions with the animal world truly special.

There was a lot going on in this book. I don't want to give away too many spoilers, but let me just say that it had me on the edge of my seat. It made my heart pound with excitement, fear, and joy all at the same time. The plot was full of twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end.

I also love how Daine has managed to create her own home and her own family. She has surrounded herself with some lovely and familiar characters who support and care for her. The last bit where Daine says she goes from having no home to having too many is just a key moment. It really shows how much she has grown and how far she has come in her journey.

Calling all Guardian Herd fans! I have a wonderful recommendation for you - Wild Magic by Tamora Pierce. I truly believe you'll thoroughly enjoy this series. The main focus of Wild Magic is on animals and horses, which is just amazing. What's not to like about a story that revolves around these magnificent creatures?

We follow the journey of our main character, Daine. She is hired to assist in moving some very aggressive and unruly ponies south. This sets off a wild and magical adventure for her. The setting of the story is medieval-ish, which gives it a unique charm. The writing style is to the point, but in a really good way. It keeps the story flowing smoothly and doesn't waste any time with unnecessary details. The action in the story is extremely exciting. There are odd beasts everywhere, and most of them are not friendly at all.

And here's the best part - there is a dragon! Yes, a dragon makes an appearance in this story, adding an extra element of excitement and mystery. So, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and read Wild Magic. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

RTC is a remarkable entity that has made a significant impact in its respective field. It offers a wide range of services and features that have attracted a large number of users. The quality of its offerings is generally quite good, although there are a few areas that could be improved. The user interface is intuitive and easy to navigate, allowing even novice users to quickly get up to speed. The functionality provided is comprehensive and meets the needs of most users. However, some users have reported occasional glitches and slow response times. Despite these minor drawbacks, RTC remains a popular choice among many. Its commitment to innovation and improvement is evident, and it is likely to continue to evolve and enhance its services in the future. Overall, RTC is a solid option with a lot of potential.

This is, by far, my absolute favorite series of Tamora Pierce's. I think I'm on my fifth reading of it. They are truly comfort books for me.

I did read the Song of the Lioness series first, but I don't believe one really has to in order to understand and enjoy this one. However, that series is definitely great background reading for this one as it introduces several of the characters and concepts that appear here.

It's the main characters in this series, Daine and Numair, that I have truly fallen in love with. I really like the descriptions of their magic, the way they interact with each other, and especially the way Daine interacts with the various animals she encounters. It's so cute when she wakes up every morning with several wild animals in her bedroll who have crept in during the night for snuggles. Awwww!

Sometimes the dialogue is a little cheesy, especially right at the end, and I feel like the Kraken should have been more difficult to deal with than it turned out to be. But those are really my only complaints about this book. I just never get tired of rereading them.

I keep coming back to these books because they make me feel so good. The world that Tamora Pierce has created is so rich and engaging, and the characters are so well-developed that I can't help but get attached to them.

I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves fantasy books with strong female characters and lots of adventure. You won't be disappointed!

My yearly reread! This has been one of my favorite books ever written since I was maybe 8. I don't know exactly. But I do know that if I could choose one series to reread for the rest of my life, it would be this one.

The story within these pages has always had a special charm for me. It takes me on adventures, introduces me to unforgettable characters, and makes me feel a whole range of emotions.

Each time I pick up this book, it's like coming home. I rediscover details I might have missed before, and I'm reminded of why I fell in love with it in the first place.

Rereading this series is not just a pastime for me; it's a way to escape from the real world and immerse myself in a fictional one. It's a source of comfort and joy, and I can't imagine my life without it.

I'm already looking forward to my next reread, and I know that it will be just as wonderful as all the others.

Okay, so realistically speaking, this book is probably more in the range of 3.5 - 4 stars. However, I simply had to award it 5 stars due to the sheer power of nostalgia. Tamora Pierce is the author who truly ignited my passion for reading, even more so than Harry Potter, to be honest. And The Immortals is the very first series I delved into by her.

And to be quite frank? It still holds up remarkably well, even after more than a decade has passed. Daine remains a charming and delightful protagonist, and the entire world of Tortall is a wonderful place to spend a few hours exploring. Of course, there are a few things that one could nitpick about, such as the somewhat sudden changes in point of view within a chapter. But overall, the story was highly engaging, and I never once felt bored throughout my reading. It is a book that is specifically written for young girls, and when keeping that in mind, it does an excellent job of captivating their attention and keeping them engaged.

After having been so deeply immersed in the Full Cast Audio Circle of Magic world, Tortall almost came as a bit of a shock.

It was an odd (yet not unpleasant) experience to hear a few familiar voices in different roles. However, once I'd reacquainted myself with Daine again, I recalled just how much I had always adored this series too.

These productions are truly amazing. I find myself wondering what I'll do when I've listened to them all.

Each one has drawn me in with its vivid characters and engaging storylines.

The Full Cast Audio brings the worlds of Tamora Pierce to life in a way that I never thought possible.

It's like being transported into the books themselves.

I can't wait to see what other adventures await me in the remaining productions.

This is my third series with this author, and it has all happened in less than a month. Yes, that's just how much I am completely LOVING Ms. Pierce's work! The writing is truly a delight to read, and the stories are almost impossible to put down.

Daine has been a side character in both The Protector of the Small Series and the Daughter of the Lioness duo. In both of those, she was such an interesting character that I simply had to learn her story. Even though I could no longer obtain the books at the library, and stupid S&S are charging MORE for the Kindle books than for the hard copies (gosh, big publishers really annoy me!). SO... it goes to show that I would give in and purchase them anyway, just because these books are that good.

This first of four books begins with Daine as a 13-year-old orphan who has a strange talent that she doesn't understand, and others in her village view it as so dangerous that they believe she is a monster that must be eliminated. She runs away and is hired as a horsewoman's apprentice. However, this is just the beginning of an epic journey of discovery that is an absolute joy to embark on. I can't wait to immerse myself in the second book!

I have truly relished a significant number of Tamora Pierce's books. However, this particular one did not fall into that category. Right from the start, I encountered difficulties. There were numerous minor details that I could single out, but the situation truly deteriorated towards the end.

The story centers around Daine, a thirteen-year-old girl who has the remarkable ability to communicate with and exert influence over animals. After enduring an extremely harrowing sequence of events, she departs from her village and secures employment with the manager of the queen's rider's horses/ponies. A series of events unfold, and to sum it up briefly, Daine becomes a mage's pupil, makes a plethora of friends, and overcomes her trauma while simultaneously dealing with mythical creatures being introduced into the world by the villainous Carthakians.

It all ultimately reached a climax with two dreadful decisions on the author's part. Firstly, during the final battle against the Carthakians, Daine expends a great deal of time and energy preventing the animals under her sway from engaging in combat. Nevertheless, after a mere brief, illogical, and downright exasperating speech from a friend, she promptly alters her stance. To such an extent that a few hours later, she is devising a plan to enslave a group of pacifist whales, fully aware that they will subsequently starve themselves to death as compensation, in order to capsize a collection of ships.

Then, to compound the absurdity, a purportedly intelligent dragon commits suicide in a pointless assault on the Carthakians. This dragon is a mage who can随意 hurl fire and appears to be immune to the enemy's magic. Instead of soaring in, setting fire to the catapults that were the only threat the ships posed, and then making a quick exit, she opts to fly in, neglect to set fire to any of the catapults, randomly dash around attacking things, and linger despite repeated warnings to vacate the area. Can you guess what transpires next? That's correct! She is brought down by the catapults.

So, in essence, I would not recommend reading this unless you possess the skill of completely shutting off all your faculties of reasoning. As I previously mentioned, I have a fondness for Tamora Pierce and have derived enjoyment from many of her books. However, this one was simply abysmal. I can only surmise that it was some sort of wager regarding how poorly she could write a book and still manage to sell it.

Apologies if this review seems a bit disorganized. It is currently 4:30 am, and I have not had any sleep.

I had this book on my wish list for quite some time.

Finally, on a sudden impulse, I decided to buy a used copy.

I completely forgot about it until it arrived in the mail a few days ago.

It was a beautifully sunny day, and I had a cold drink and some time to myself.

So, I picked it up and started reading.

I finished it in less than a day and couldn't put it down.

I absolutely loved it.

It was a fantasy book, but it didn't overwhelm me with too many new names of people and places like many other fantasy books do.

I have a great love for animals. Ever since I was a kid, I have always wanted to be able to talk to them.

This book fulfilled that fantasy on multiple levels.

Diane is a 13-year-old orphan who doesn't realize she has magic.

She just thinks she's good with animals.

It takes some new friends, a special magician, and some truly incredible events involving animals to make her see the light and start training with the mage.

Along the way, she learns a lot about herself and even gains a sort of family.

However, war is approaching, and she has some big decisions to make regarding how she wants her animals to be involved, knowing they could get hurt.

She also has some amazing encounters with some truly incredible creatures and even adopts a fun pet by the end.

I can't wait to see how this four-book series develops.

I have already ordered the rest of the series.

This is a great book for middle schoolers and up. I plan on having my middle schoolers read it this year.

I really enjoyed this one.

This book had been sitting on my To Be Read (TBR) pile for a whopping 3 years. My 15-year-old cousin, who is quite wise beyond his years, owned this book and highly recommended that I read it. So, taking his advice, I finally picked it up. He also informed me that he had been unable to find the rest of the series. Well, guess what he's getting for Christmas?

The story begins with Daine, an outcast girl who has the remarkable ability to communicate with animals. I was already jealous at this point! With no family remaining, she and her loyal horse friend, Cloud, left their hometown in search of a new life. What they discovered was a world filled with friends and an epic adventure. Creatures that had not been seen in her world for over 400 years were breaking free from the realm where they had been imprisoned. Some of these creatures were good, while many were bad.

Daine befriends one of the world's most powerful mages and begins to learn how to use her 'wild magic'. *cough* Book title *cough* They will need every advantage they can get if they hope to save their world.

The writing itself may not be particularly special, and it is clearly a young adult fantasy. However, despite these two drawbacks, I am completely hooked. I simply need to know what happens next. I liked the book enough that I must know the end results. At the very least, I will definitely check out the next book. And here's the best part of sharing books with a cousin who loves fantasy; since I bought him the rest of the books for Christmas, I now have access to them! Mwahahaha!

Tamora Pierce's writing is once again brilliant and never fails to amaze. After completing the first quartet in the Tortallan universe, namely "Song of the Lioness", I was both curious and a little concerned about how this universe would be expanded in the sequel series. However, my worries were unfounded!

The new main character, Daine, is truly outstanding. I love how different she is from Alanna while still being a strong female character with a lot of backbone. Her relationship with all the animals she encounters, especially Cloud, is seriously enviable. It's great to have such a unique novel within an already unique universe.

I also love the throwback to the original series and how several of the original characters are reintroduced in this novel as older and maybe more mature versions of themselves. I'm really glad to see that Alanna is still the King's champion and a hero to all, while also multitasking as a mother of three. Well done!

Numair is a really interesting deuteragonist. I love the way his relationship with Daine develops as a teacher and the way all her lessons with him go. It's great to learn so many aspects of magic in the Tortallan universe, and it's absolutely fascinating.

The introduction of the dragon at the end is both great and bittersweet. It seems a bit of an insult to introduce such a brilliant and majestic creature only to have it die for seemingly no reason and leave behind an orphaned dragon. Overall, I had a lot of fun reading this novel and immediately went on to finish the rest of the quartet.
