I read this immediately after Magician. There are two possibilities here. Either Feist has developed massively as a writer over the past 25 years, or Stirling has done a significant amount of the writing, because the style is much more mature.

However, at times it can be a little bit too detailed and dry, with unnecessary details about how certain mundane aspects of life come to be. But in general, I would say it is better than Magician.

The story, unfortunately, was a bit disappointing. It starts out strong, but after one-third of the way through, Jimmy disappears and becomes more of a minor character. The new elements and characters are a bit flat, and the story feels a bit contrived.

All in all, it is a decent read, but it has missed out on its full potential. It could have been so much more if the story had been developed better and the characters had been more fully fleshed out. Still, it is an enjoyable enough read for fans of the genre.

Surprisingly, I found myself really liking this final installment of the Riftwar Legends series.

The characters, especially Jimmy the Hand and the diverse group of teenagers like Flora, as well as the innocent perspectives of the little kids like Rip, made for an engaging read. Their stories and personalities added depth and charm to the narrative.

Moreover, there was an unexpected twist at the end that kept me on the edge of my seat. However, I have to admit that I didn't really feel a great deal of compassion for the Barron. Maybe it was because of his actions or the way he was portrayed.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would highly recommend the entire series to anyone who loves adventure, fantasy, and well-developed characters. It is a must-read for fans of the genre.

I'm not enjoying this as much as I initially thought I would.

Jimmy is one of my all-time favourite characters from the Riftwar Saga. However, this book, up until now, doesn't possess as much humour as I would anticipate from a story having Jimmy as the central character.

Moreover, it's taking an awfully long time for any kind of plot to gain momentum. I'm not precisely sure where I am in the book since I was reading it on the Kindle, but I believe I'm at least a third of the way through it, and the central adventure of the book seems like it might just now be commencing.

Anyway, perhaps I'm simply not in the right frame of mind for this at the moment, so I'm setting it aside because I'm not finding it captivating.

Maybe I'll come back to it later when my mood has changed and see if I can get more out of it then.

It was a sad day for me as a fan, and I will always remember this as the moment when my love for this particular mythos started to fade away.

However, when the story transitioned to Land's End, something changed for me. I'm not sure if it was the new setting or the different direction the plot was taking, but I started to lose a bit of interest.

Despite this, I still think the story has a lot of potential. Maybe if I were to continue reading, I would find that the shift to Land's End was necessary for the overall development of the plot. I'm willing to give it a chance and see where the story takes me.
