I have been engaged in Buddy-Reading this remarkable series over the past couple of months with a dear 'book-club' friend. She had never delved into the work of Raymond E. Feist before. Since I have been a devoted fan of his writings for a long time, I have drawn comparisons to The Lord of the Rings books. However, to my pleasant surprise, I have found myself enjoying this series even more. When I shared this sentiment with my friend, her curiosity was immediately piqued, and she wasted no time in expressing her eagerness to read the series. What's more, she managed to convince me to embark on this reading journey with her - not that it was a difficult task for her to accomplish

A good spin-off on the character of Jimmy the quick hands.

However, I still preferred the first two volumes of this trilogy.

This spin-off does offer some interesting new perspectives and storylines related to Jimmy.

It delves deeper into his character and shows different aspects of his abilities and personality.

Nevertheless, the first two tomes had a certain charm and coherence that made them stand out for me.

They set the stage well and established the overall tone and atmosphere of the trilogy.

The characters and their relationships were more developed in those initial volumes, which made it easier for me to engage with the story.

Despite this, the spin-off is still a worthwhile read for fans of the trilogy and those interested in the character of Jimmy.

It provides additional entertainment and fills in some gaps in the overall narrative.

Overall, while I may have a preference for the first two tomes, I can appreciate the efforts put into creating this spin-off.

Jimmy the Hand is my all-time favourite character in this entire world.

Therefore, I'm extremely pleased that he gets his very own one-off story.

This story takes place during the Riftwar. It occurs after he assists Aruthra and Anita, yet before all the truly significant events that unfold later on.

One of the characters within the story subtly hints at being a major player in some of the subsequent books. However, aside from that, it's simply a standalone, entertaining Jimmy story.

Feist collaborated with Stirling to write this, but I must admit that I couldn't detect any difference in the writing style or anything of the sort.

It's highly enjoyable and serves as a nice reminder of the earlier books in the series.

Overall, it's a great addition to the world of Jimmy the Hand and a must-read for fans of the series.

Feist's reasoning behind permitting another writer to pen this story is truly fascinating.

The fellow author lacks the encumbrance of having written Jimmy's story in previous books. This aspect functions splendidly.

It provides a fresh perspective and an opportunity for a new narrative to unfold. Without the preconceived notions and established storylines that Feist might have had, the other writer can approach the tale with a clean slate.

This freedom allows for a more innovative and unexpected exploration of Jimmy's character and his adventures.

It also gives readers a chance to experience Jimmy's story from a different vantage point, adding depth and variety to the overall literary experience.

Feist's decision to let another writer take on this task shows his confidence in the potential of a new interpretation and his willingness to embrace new ideas and perspectives.

Overall, it is an interesting and potentially rewarding choice that could lead to a captivating and unique story.
